Oil Tank Crack

I had the oil tank crack on my 07 Vector in 09 at about 10KKm and again this year at 20KKm.

The first time it only cracked along the outside face but this time along both faces.

Here are pictures of where the crack is. I circled the area in blue.

The first tank was covered under the extended warranty but I had to buy this one. $387 CND!!!!

I have since welded the 2nd tank with the aluminum weld sticks that you see at flea markets, etc that you use a propane torch on. It is sealed and looks OK but I'll keep it as a spare.

I was not aware that this was an issue with the Apex's as well (Same part number tank).

My group experienced this on three sleds in the last 12 months!
two '06 Attaks at 9 - 10,000 miles
my '07 Apex at 14,300 miles (warranty, YES YES YES!)

You could always take tank to a welding shop that know how to test the type of metal and proper procedure to weld aluminum.
I took mine to a local welder that said he could do it, but he ruined the tank. Three holes I could stick my finger in. After that I found a qualified shop, would have been about $50, but they didn't think a patch over the mess that big would last. Bought a new tank, all said and done for $430.

Mine ad a crack, dripping since last season.
Make it weld for 25$ in bottom right corner front/and rear of the oil tank. 2006 rtx 13000 km on the sled.

Same here; my 08 gt has 1900 miles and I suspect I have the same issue. Still have a couple weeks of riding left will teardown after I park for the season.
