Any good name semi- synthetic 0w-30 or full synthetic 0w-40 will do. Find the closest deal nearest you. If K-mart is 2 miles away selling Mobil 1 for $10, then it's not worth traveling 20 miles to dealer to pay $12 a quart. Then again if a certain brand name or manufactures' name makes you feel at ease, then $3 to $15 difference really shouldn't be that big of a deal. For example: I used to go 15 miles (30 round trip) to get Yamalube for $12 a quart. I found Amsoil for $10 a quart a half mile down the road. NO BRAINER for me. Could be opposite for others. All the mentioned oils are just as good as the others in any stock motor.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I'm calling you on it, I'm honestly not like that. I just hate to see people get ripped off for things you don't need. You're right, you're supposed to grease the rollers on the clutch. I usually do them yearly as well or whenever I'm inspecting the belt. I do a lot of atv, sled stuff on the side for friends because they don't like to pay for stuff they don't need (or never gets performed).
As far as oil goes I run amsoil because my family has a dealer account and I haven't had an issues with it. Near 30 000km's on my dad's SRX and its never had a rebuild, thing looks and performs like new. However I've ran everything from klotz to yamalube and I believe the main factor is oil change intervals. Keep it fresh, you won't have an issue.

Wow is that the correct # of 0's there??rx1mtn said:I use Yamalube 0W30 in my 03 RX1 Mountain. I have just over 160000 miles and had to add 1 qt 1 time in the last 10 years. Change the oil and filter every year before the season starts, and Im VERY happy with the oil. Yamalube is designed and enginered to be used in Yamaha vehicles, THATS the #1 reason I use it.

I ran Amsoil in my 03 RX1 and it was burning oil like crazy so I went back to Yamalube and the oil consumption went back to normal, this year in my Attak I'm trying Rottela T5, some advise against it but the T6 does a good job in my street bike.....

I could never figure out, even Amsoil Tech's, why I had consumption issues when I ran it in my P/U and Grizzly ATV?DAGE said:I ran Amsoil in my 03 RX1 and it was burning oil like crazy so I went back to Yamalube and the oil consumption went back to normal, this year in my Attak I'm trying Rottela T5, some advise against it but the T6 does a good job in my street bike.....

I know in both, once I swtich back (Mobil in truck, Rotella T in Grizz) my consumption issues stopped?
I am sure it is a great oil, some run it and have great luck, some don't for some reason?
I think you might find, and the reason I run Mobil-1 in my Vector instead of the Rotella T, is the fact the Rotella doesn't have a very good low temp pour point.
Double check, but I believe I read somewhere around -15, which is not low enough for me or most on here I would think?

I bought amsoil to run in my Nytro this year but if it starts going through oil I will be switching to Mobil 1. Thanks for the heads up Irv.

I switched from Yamalube semi-syn 0W-30 to regular Mobil-1 0W-30 last year and put about 1,500 miles on which isn't very much but the sled seemed to work just fine. I didn't notice any uptick in RPM's or performance.
There were plenty of full throttle runs at 10,600-10,800rpms for anywhere from 2-5 miles and the oil seemed fine. Maybe I'll experience shortened engine life but I don't think I'll have to worry about engine failure during a run?

Guaranteed the Mobil oil is far superior to the over priced Yamalube.

Last season I used Castrol Syntec 0W30 full synthetic European Formula (whatever that means)in my VLite.

grader said:lets type this in again for the hundredth time, these motors do not have a wet clutch. period.
Any oil that is wet clutch compatible is supposed to and is recomended for Yamis oil bathed starter clutch. We are not supposed to use Automotive oils that contain friction modifiers. So if it is wet clutch compatible then it can be used for our snowmobiles starter system.
As far as the oil burning issue at 18,000 miles I don't have any issue with Amsoil 0-40 but i stopped using Esso oil in my car years ago because it went through oil faster then gasoline. Switched back to Castrol and oli burning stopped.
Biggest reason I use Amsoil however is its easy to get. Can't find Mobile1 around here.

I get the Yamaha 0w30 4 stroke snowmobile oil for $8.95 US per quart. Is that expensive? If you don't change the filter you only need about 2 and a half quarts, under 4 quarts for the full change. I have a hard spot with my dealer charging around $15 US for a filter. I get those online for around $10. Does anybody know a cheaper alternative for a filter that has the OEM quality and is the right size? I know there are some that are close in size but are longer or shorter than OEM and can cause installation problems.

I ordered a K&N filter off ebay for 10 $ nut on the end of the filter and no problems with installation.

If you are referring to 1 litre bottles, $65 is the wrong price for 4 litres or your dealer would be ripping you off big time. 1 litre should be around 9 to 11 dollars.Yammi_Rx1 said:in the end i ended up buyin the 4 left over bottles of yamahalube from my friend from his 4 stroke that he sold , i got the 4 jugs for 30 dollars, i phoned the dealer and it woulda costed 65 so thats pretty good, so will be running this for now.
