You wont have that happen with a Bergstrom 1/2 rod!!! ;)!

I beg to differ! I was just installing new Bergstrom Triple Points on my sled and just as I seated the nut and started to tighten it, well. it let go! The bolt snapped off at the weld :o| On top of that, one of the Ski Savers also split.

There was no way that I overtightened the nut as it just got seated. Looking closely at where the bolt was welded, it was barely tacked at all.

Right now, I am very ticked as I have waited 5 1/2 weeks for these to get to my door, and now this! It seems that they have fallen behind in getting product out the door and in a rush, quality has taken second priority. After exchange rate and shipping and GST, These runners have cost me over $200!

Merry Xmas to me and Mr. Bergstrom will be receiving a call from me tomorrow. :o|

Here are a couple of pics:
Sorry to see that ...mine have held up very well and they weren't backed up at all when ordered , it only took a few days I would call Scott Bergstrom and maybe he will send out another skeg for free...then I would get that rewelded and use it.

It certainly doesn't give me too much confidence in the quality of these carbides I have right now.

Just called Scott and I'm returning everything for a full refund. I'm not waiting another 5+ weeks to get a replacement.

Looks like I'm gonna get the Studboy Deuce bars.

cant say that I blame you 5 weeks to get them??? whats with that? But a duece bar of any kind is not a coice I would want because you will loose top end forsure and they dont cross over pavement for s~%t unless you have studs you will get hung up! I would put shims before the duecebar IMHO. Also I have heard of the welds breaking on woodies doolies...

I understand, any runner I would get runs the risk of snapping at the welds.

I have made and installed some shims after seeing Bergstroms.

Why would the Deuce bar have trouble over pavement? (I do have studs)

twice the drag they really dig in if its like a woodies dooly I know a couple guys who said its a B**** crossing the streets or parking at a restruant.

Yeah, I've seen the Woody's doolies, and they are quite the setup. These Studboys however, are mounted to a single bar, side by each.
Apparently this design eliminates the dual type runners clogging, push in corners and top end loss. Here's a link and a pic:

My question is why do all these aftermarket carbides have 2" stem of threads. The stock carbides had alot shorter stems on them. Who needs the extra leverage to break the weld?? Not to mention they look kind of stupid stickin that high out of the ski.

Agreed, but I don't know why.
Years ago, runners had longer bolt lengths to accomodate the installation of ski skins.
With the length of these bolts today, we could install 5 pairs of ski skins and still manage to install the nuts.
