When you guys go on trips do you bring covers that you can carry with you? This is moreso for the saddlebaggers, but I am lookin for a lightweight cover just to keep the Rain/Snow off the sleds tnat is small and can be put in my saddlebag... Thanks! :yam:

The only time I have ever wished that I had put a cover on my sled overnight was when you get freezing rain. In that case you could simply use your trailering cover if you have one.

Otherwise if it is just snow then I agree with Daraello, hit the gas and let the wind do the rest!

I would say the ONLY advantage to throwing the cover on them overnight is when the windchill outside is -65F keeping them out of the wind will make them a little easier to start in the morning.

Edit sorry just realized this was related to bagger trips in that scenario nah!

Fleet Farm also sells a cheap storage cover (not for trailering).

As far as keeping the wind off of the sled to make it easier to start, it would depend on how long it sits. It will certainly take longer for the engine to drop to the ambient temperature with a cover on but eventually it will. Once the entire engine is at the ambient temperature, the wind no longer matters. The engine can not get any colder than the ambient temperature. Only people feel wind chill, not mechanical devices.

a 5 dollar blue tarp and some bungie straps....good enough! haven't had a problem with freezing rain setting off TORS or cold starts yet.

Nope. Need to travel light. Just dust it off in the morning and go. There was one time with a group of eight in Hornepayne Ontario that it was suppose to dump freezing rain all night. We asked around town were we could rent a tarp. We met the local gas station and bar owner who offered to let us use a large tarp he had for free. He came over to our hotel and covered our sleds himself. I love riding in Canada. G.B.

I hope you guys bought that boy a meal or a drink...cuz that was mighty nice of him!!!

I just bring a couple big garbage bags. Put one over the hood and tuck it under, then put the other over the bars and guage pod. Hasn't let me down yet.

Oh yeah, the bar owner held a Texas Holdem tournament one night and a bunch of us I am sure donated money to his cause. G.B.
