Cargo options and ideas for 07 Attak/Apex

Steve, my clutch cover bag is by Gears so it may be different than the one you were looking at. With the Gears clutch cover bag, there is a U-shaped sheet metal tray that the bag slides over to help protect its contents. Inside the bag itself, it has a padded bottom so it's not just the bag on top of the metal tray. Because it can be removed from the bag, you could either use it or remove it if you want the bag to be able to collapse when not filled completely. Here are some pics of it.

As for my plans with the bag, I'm not sure I will use it considering I already have tank bags and windshield bags as well as a saddle bag for the Apex's and RX-1 so if your interested in it, I'd would be willing to sell it.

I’d like to know that too! I thought I read that any weight on that tunnel extension and it could bend under stress from bumps and stuff. Are they talking more weight than you would put in there. That’s a good option too. My extension gets warm now too with the rear cooler ss everything radiates. But I do have the mountain exhaust so my tips are turned out so they won’t cook the bag.

I have saddle bags the go under the rear seat storage flap and rest on the steps. A tank bag which holds alot of stuff. Also no nose bag..just packed rope (carefully) jumper cables and a fold up shovel there.

Got a better pic of that bag that rests on the footboards? That's not Yamaha right ?

I have the Sport Combo bag my Attak. No issues with scuffing the paint. I also use the Skinz tunnel bag once in awhile. Good for carrying non food items.
Will not go anywhere without a tank bag. This holds my extra goggles, snacks, maps and other things. Another great thing about a tank bag is that it provides a cushion and grip for your knees.
My nose bag is packed with stuff that I hope I don't need like a tow rope, wire, tools duct tape etc...
I'm sure that I carry an extra 50lbs of stuff on my sled.
Stiener, interested in the nose bag you mentioned, any idea if it would fit the new Vector and if so, Where can I get one?

Regarding the shovel, this is where I permanently DSC03830.JPG keep my telescopic shovel with saw inside. A thin soft foam wrap on the upper handle to keep it from rubbing against the seat and one inch wide loops of inner tube from a truck tire and 1/2 inch loops from a wheelbarrow tire tube, keep it tight at the bumper and the exhaust cover.

The new Vector and Apex will be the same.

Some have used the older model Apex nose bags in the newer ps models. They fit but because of the ps module you have less storage.
As far as to where to get one.... BoP usually has one or two a year come in and check the classifieds.
I found one of mine in the "bargain bin" at a dealer.

No.. I made them.. but many would fit.. they can be shortened to lay on the running boards. I added a snap to hold the bags from flopping around. But the rear flap keeps them secure.

Sounds like I might be better off not using a nose bag at all. Too bad though, that would have been a great spot for those rarely used items. But with those two modules (PS and ?) that are heavily heat sinked, likely better leaving the air space in there for cooling. Thanks

Store stuff but leave some spacing..
I store my tow rope there around the modules and then cables with a folding shovel on top.. in 18k miles in all kinds of temp's and running it hard I've never had an electrial issue at all with the sled. Any were on the sled.. I keep everything sprayed with WD 40 ..everything being electrical contacts grounds, etc. Battery connections you name it.. Been doing that to outboards ,trucks, etc. never had electrial issues there either.

So ordered up some of the combo rear saddle/luggage bags. Part SMA-8HG73-20-00. Looks like I can mount back straps without going across exhaust covers. :) can’t wait to get it installed.
