So ordered up some of the combo rear saddle/luggage bags. Part SMA-8HG73-20-00. Looks like I can mount back straps without going across exhaust covers.can’t wait to get it installed.
Only if you put the U Bolt in the tunnel, IMHO.

Yup. Or something similar.
I have a friend who has it installed with a loop of strapping held in with a rivet. Had it like that forever and no issues. One way or another I’m confident I can find a way to secure it.

I actually was given one with the sled when I bought it (Tank bag). The map windows is all cracked, and the velcro was peeling as well. I figure I have it in case I ever need even more space, but with the bags I bought, that is unlikely unless I'm going on a very long trip.

I like the old style tank bag as shown above. Still holding up for me. Must be because it's always garaged with no sun or heat to speak of. My wife has the newer style and I don't like that as much.
I also found I like the windshield bag someone gave me . I did have to add velcro to the ends (sewing machine) to make it stick down nicely. But it's low profile and I keep my extra goodies in it.

Yeah I like having the windshield bag for the smaller stuff.

Well finally got some rear luggage installed. Came out nice and used all existing rivet holes. [emoji1360]

What kind of buckets did you use on your rear tunnel to secure bags with

Buckles you mean? They came with the bag. Sled is back in trailer. They are just web straps with plastic loops in them. the bag has clips on the web straps, so you pass it through the part mounted on tunnel, and clip. Very easy on and off and very secure, and best of all, no damage to the exhaust covers from rubbing.

Do you have a part no. for that bag
Thank's

Yup, here you go. SMA-8HG73-20-00. I will say that the buckles for the tunnel that they sent didn't match the instructions, so not sure if they were updated or not, and the instructions didn't catch up. Also, on the Apex, it said to mount the buckles behind the exhaust covers. On my Attak, that wouldn't have worked as good as this, so I improvised and did what I wanted. This bag says it's made for newer model sleds, but worked great, as you see on my 2007. Lastly, the black rivets it came with were a bit short to reach through my tunnel extension AND my rear cool mounting tabs. I had a bunch of the Yamaha black rivets that are used on the front body panels of the sled, and there were about 1/4" longer, and worked great. You can buy them from the dealer, part number 90267-47200-00, if you need the extra length.
