Open face helmet/ pro-vue goggle system?

Any one that rides a sled should NOT be using an Open Face helmet. Not the greatest for safety.

I would like to hear your reasons why they are not as safe. Could you explain why the sno x guys wear them then, if they are not safe. I've been using an open face for years, no frost bite and always warm in any temps. I'll never put another full face on my lid again.

Sno-X helmets are not open faced helmets.... They are closed faced. They just don;t have a shield. They use goggles instead. I use a Sno-X helmet and goggles alot in the winter, but not always. An Open Face helmet is just that, a helmet without a chin bar. Wearing one of those helmets was one of the reason why the late Dale Earnhardt died. They are not safe and you freeze your face off them on in the winter. Even the Sno-X helmets are not good for extreme cold temps. Anything colder than -15 or -20 degrees celcius, then you are looking to get Frostbite.

I've always called the sno x helemts open face, I guess it's just the area i'm in. I kinda thought you were speaking of the old style ones. Hey thats kinda crazy you mentioned Dale E, Right before that race started years ago I was sitting at the Tavern with my buddies and I said, "You guys watch, Dales gonna bite the dust today" (just jokeing though) But when the day was done my buddies thought I was some type of Freak or something. I don't predict things anymore...

All I want is a helmet setup that I don't have to figit with for 5 min. tucking this in, or taping that, etc... it drives me and allot of the people I ride with nuts. Easy on, easy off - that's what I want.

At least the contacts don't fog-up.

I bought My first MX helmet this year. With velcroed wind deflector and goggles I was pretty impressed with it. Now I will only use my BVs2 when it gets really cold. I also bought a quick connect goggle attatchment that seems to work great. It was at the Muni Demo when I saw Throttl Jockey and others staying somewhat cool and I was sweating my @ss off with the BV that I knew I had to try it. And a little story one of the Yamaha guys told me about modulars and collisions.

i will only ride mx style !!!

im looking for a new helmet.....only for new color, and i wear smith snow warp star goggles.....awesome.

Last year i rode with a guy from TY who had a warrior.. he had a MX helmet and goggles..

Every 5 minutes he would want to stop and take off his helment and goggles and put the goggles under the hood to defrost them (it was very cold that day) I was sooo fed up with him by the end of the day.. and i vowed i will never have that type of helmet or setup..

Too much jacking around for me..

As far as I'm concerned, the only doo stuff worth a shi$$ are there helmets.

I can recall a trip up North (Ontario and Quebec) -30 to -60, four guys with modulars, two had the cold air kit one didn't, and one didn't 't have his on. I had my trusty Yamy snowforce, and the other guy had a cat deal. The first day all without modulars and the guys without the old weather kit had frost bite... scary, we were duct taping our faces to make it to our destination. The next morning, it was -60 and windy "a", there was no way we were going to make it to the next stop, we went about 50 mi to a town with a doo dealer. We all ended up with modulars and cold weather kits, had the other helmets shipped back to the US. No problem for the rest of the trip.

Guys with the electric really love them. I seem to run into a couple times a year when it would be really good to have. thats my nest move. I do not understand the motocross thing, whats the point. It has to be a pain to stop the air leaks, and they are not as convenient as a modular. We like to stop and have out mini trail cigars. The modulars are handy.

doo helmets

Is there a big enough difference in the BvS2 and the regular Doo modular helmet to justify the cost difference ? How does the yellowish gold sun screen work when it's clear and sunny and you have a bad time with seeing from snow blindness and depth perception problems, seems like you'd want a dark sun screen, smoke , or chrome ? I'm wanting to buy one with my new sled because a friend has one and never has fogging issue's, just slip it on and go! We ride in 0 to 60 degree's . If it's colder then I choose not to ride, though this might change when I get the new sled.......LOL . What kind of neck and chin protection do you use ? a full balaclave would be hot and I don't think the mouth piece would seal corredtly ?

Then he did not have them on right because a A Snow-X helmet and goggles DO NOT FOG, PERIOD.
