finally got a chance to ride the other day about 20 mi., mine is taching out at 11,500 r.p.m's, is that normal? also, it was alittle warm and that phazer fx over heats so easily, within the frist 4 miles the yellow light came on, anyone else have this problem, i think i'm going to try and take as much anti-freeze out as i can and add somemore water wetter and distilled water

I think installing the fan is a good idea.
The Venture Lite and Mountail Lite have it, and my dealer said all of them have the whole set up, except for the fan.
Should be a plug'n play deal.
:rocks: :yam: :4STroke:

what about the wiring for it?

I do believe all of the wires and sensors are there, just missing the actual fan. This info coming from my Yamaha dealer.

thanks, i might be looking into this, my son has a 02 viper rode it hard all day the temp light never came on, 4 mi. on the phazer and the sled overheated and anti-freeze was coming out the over flow tube

I rode from Bethel to Napakiak before the snow fell, 40 miles round trip on pure black ice. My 500xc/sp has a history of overheating at least 3 times on the same run.
My hyfax got hot, but not the engine. I believe that the fan is a good thing!

i agree, thanks for the info

I see in the wiring diagram that there is a fan motor relay listed so you might want to keep that in mind when you go to the dealer to order a fan. I don't imagine they put that relay on the machines without the fan. Never know I guess. Topper

Jeez check the mixture before you go putting a fan on it...

Not only that but what conditions were you in?

You could have air in your system. When I idled mine a month or so ago, I noticed only one side of the front tunnel heat exchanger got warm, the other side was not. It's probable that I'll have to bleed my system before I go ride it.

I ride in a place that snowmobiles are not designed for.
It is a barren, windblown frozen desert. Any snow blows away like sand.
We have ice and wind combined with stupid cold.
Fan cooled sleds rule here. We use them to tow very heavy loads of groceries and fuel (read 55 gallon drums) and hardly any snow. I have seen sleds pulling around 1500 pounds...so heavy that you cannot use a fixed towbar, just a rope so you can back up to the sled and jerk it into motion, then don't stop...on no snow...
I mean when we get a heavy frost we are happy to have hyfax material.
Not unheard of to change hyfax 4 times in a season.
It sucks, I know, but this is where I live and this is where I ride.

I was actually addressing Sharkattak. I've read your riding conditions before Gypsie and suffice to say I wouldn't want to ride in them lol. In your case I might even add a rear heat exchanger. For those who's conditions are not so extreme though, before spending the money and time on a fan I'd check the antifreeze mixture.

Ride it again when we get REAL snow and see what Happens, I had my Temp Light Come on 1 time but that was due to after we rode 30 Miles I let it Idle for 25 min so a buddy could Use the Headlight while he was Fixing his Arctic cat on the Trail at Night..............

fixed the over-heating problem, took out most of the anti-freeze and got it to a 50/50 mix and some water wetter, no more over-heating
