Was thinking of going with a rear heat exhanger for my 03 RX1 shorty , been having some problems with over heating. Has any one tried this and does it work..

I was about to a couple of years ago, then went 136 and added a rear exchanger. I would do it.

Definately. Put one on my 05 shorty last year and good bye heat problems. The only prob i would still have was carbs vapor locking when it was very warm riding (40 deg +). But a shut off to the carb cooling system fixed that. Easy fix and not a lot of cash. Be sure to do a good bleed job after install.

i think there under 100 and u just jack the rear of the sled up and remove the bleeder screw tell it starts pissing out then slap it back in and then bleed the rest of the sled with the rear down

I made up some Stainless Steel Cooling Fins that Attach To the rear of the Front Skis on the inside.
The idea is to divert snow kicking up from the skis into the track and Heat Exchangers. I got the idea from one of those aftermarket Ski companies, can't remember which one
I'll let you all know how they work

Anybody run Engine ice coolant? I'm going to try some this year. Supposedly lowers temps a good 15 degrees or more. Its good to -26 degrees which is plenty for me but maybe not everyone.

Probs with that stuff is that its tested with water and water and water weter works AWSOME In summer. In the winter i saw some test with coolant and the gains were not much.

Bob - I think you're idea came from Simmons' "cooling fin" to go with their flex skis?

I installed a Temp Gage and have played around with the various conditions that lead to high temps. I have found that if I ride in snow, mine does not overheat. When I have to make a long jump on some ice or hard pack, I now pack the running boards with snow and the temps are normal for several miles. However, I suspect that when the temps are up, I am also experiencing excessive hyfax wear? It seems to me that they would kinda go hand-in-hand, so to speak. The only time my temp light ever came on, we were running very hard for several miles on hard pack, before I had the gage and learned to pack the running boards. Bottom line: They are not Icemobiles.
