just installed a mpi 180 turbo and prologger gage with boost control. first short ride had prologger set to 6lb and got overboost then set to 2lb but still overboosting seeing 7-9lb. at partial throttle. also started getting oil out of oil tank breather

Any boost controller will only control the boost as low as the minimum the wastegate actuator produces (preload and spring tension). You can have the controller WFO at 2 psi but it wont do anygood if it takes 10 psi to move the wastegate itself...
The first time running should have been with just directly to the actuator to determine what the base min boost level is, so then you could program the actual wastegate rating into the ProLogger.
Oil out the breather... how much when you say there is oil? There will always be some oily residue from the natural crankcase moisture / misting when hot but oil pouring out like it got spilled is a bad sign of detonation damage. But that wont typically happen at light throttle loads, the issue is you really don't have fuel delivery capacity to keep the AFR's low enough over 7 psi.
You can do a cylinder leakdown check to see if there was any damage...

What sled?
overboost mpi 180 turbo
I removed the boost controller and got 5.5 lb of boost so waste gate should be adjusted correct. I reconnected the boost controller and I am seeing high boost numbers at partial (half throttle), afr are low (11.5-12.5) Sled doesn't feel like its being boosted.

got it figured out. I lengthened the waste gate rod 2 turns and got 4.9lb of boost. I also had the boost controller plumbed wrong and the prologger was set to the wrong turbo setup. Thanks Max from MPI.
