Not sure yet but I'm going to buy a new phazer 2007 this year or snowcheck end of the year.
choices are going to be between going with the basic phazer or going with mtn lite.
Basic phazer is like $7850 cdn, apparently they have been selling them like hot cakes. or $7600 if you decide to wave your 400 dollar yamaha bucks.
Or go with phazer mtn lite for $8700, the only problem is 2 inch paddle 144 is a little messed for flat landers. 144 is ok I just wish they had options on tracks...
Something like the regular phazer coming out with the option of 136 or 121 with a 1.25 paddle would be great. Oh well hard to tell wait and miss out this season and possibly get something that more matches my riding or just go get one? (still have my artic cat to get me around)
Any thoughts regarding yamaha and what they plan for upgrades? Shaving a 2 inch paddle down to 1.25 is not something I really want to do.
Great forum as well I have been reading a lot in the phazer area, Its great....
thanks,
guys

If you dont ride in the mountains a Phazer Mtn Lite is kind of a waste.
I would buy one now. You might get a better deal on a leftover '07 in the spring, but by then you might not be able to find one.
If the Phazer lives up to the preseason hype they might be tough to find, especially a base model. Every one Ive seen at dealerships so far were either FXs or GTs.

Unfortunately I don't live in the mountains, some friends of mine have, so I would try to plan a trip a year as they keep asking me to come out and I always wanted to go.
As for my riding I only have a few friends that enjoy the same style, we generally stay off the trail and go as the crow flies, in general we just ride to explore.
I'm thinking if I could shave the paddle down to 1.5 or 1.25 I might still be able to get 75 mph and that would be fine with me for topend... speed isn't my thing anymore

In that case a Mtn Lite might be a good choice for you.
Its up to you though, dont let me make the decision for you. You have to weigh all the options and get the sled that is best for you and how you ride.

A Mtn Lite might be a good choice then. Youve always got the ZRT for trail riding.
Have you considered a Venture Lite? Its got a 15 x 144" track with 1.25" lugs. Its more of a touring sled, but would probably give you the versatility to ride both trails and some powder.

Yea, Venture Lite would not be my choice as you can see in the last few pictures, my buddy owns one a 2006. Great sled good on fuel but very heavy, and for some reason he blows belts like crazy. He leaves it at my house and I have taken the kids on it great for that stuff but just to heavy to do jumping and playing around.
The only disappointment he has, is with the belts blowing up on him. (literally)
He took it to Yamaha dealership (2 in total) they all tell him the same thing everything is lined up to specs and then they hand him a bill
I told him to go to this site and try to figure out with some of guys on this forum on what it might be, all the dealers tell him is to stop taking it offroading and keep it on the trail, which really sucks as riding trail all day is pretty boring.
Gotta little off topic but I'm pretty sure my choice is going to be the mtn lite, and I'll shave off the paddles.
ps Venture would be a good machine when I get old.... hehe still got some years in me...

That's my car, its a 67 beaumont 2dr identical to chevelle except a different grill and tailights.
It's to bad, but I just sold a 67 chevelle ragtop which would have needed a full restoration. Chevelle and the Beaumonts are getting very hard to find now, but if I see one I'll let you know.
Full pictures of my car are at this site i put up a while back. Still a work in progress but eventually I'll finish her http://www.beaumont.myphotos.cc:81/67.html
But I did just pick up some american racing rims and they look very nice I tell yea

Your buddy has an RS Venture, thats not the same as a Venture Lite. A Venture Lite is basically a touring sled built on the FX chassis. It is a heavy sled though, Yamaha lists it at 591 pounds. Thats definetely not going to be a good jumping sled.swamps said:Octane said:A Mtn Lite might be a good choice then. Youve always got the ZRT for trail riding.

As far as your buddy's problem with blowing belts, it could be the way he rides. If he just gets on the gas hard off the line and blips the throttle that can tear belts up pretty quick. He needs to gently blip the throttle off the line so that the clutch engages smooth and quickly. Thats what I do and I easily get over 1000 miles out of belts on my '01 600 XC.

Well, we don't have mountains either but I want the mountain lite because we don't have groomed trails, and 80% of our riding is over frozen lakes. It makes for great off trail riding in powder filled bays, etc...so I think the Mountain Lite will be great in our conditions here. I love breaking trail too, rarely are we on hard packed surfaces, just a lot of flat land powder riding.
