Well i finally got a sled for the wife, 07 Phazer GT with just about 6000m. Just wondering what i should check for and what kind of maintence should be dunn with this amount of miles.
Thanks

Check to make sure any and all updates have been done. A tunnel block off plate of some kind may be nice considering the 07's didn't have anything. Look at the 10's or 11's for an example. I would definently go through the chaincase just to check things over. It a pretty basic chaincase since the reverse system is seperate. Check all bearings, jackshaft, driveshaft, etc. the front bushings in the A-arms may need to be replaced, at least the top ones as they are smaller, I would go with the oilites from Ulmer. I did on my Nytro and after 2200+ miles everthing was tight and looked brand new. Secondary buttons should probably be checked while your at it. Your basic overall check of suspension parts. The ball joints may be worn out as well, depending on the history they may or may not be covered. I would definently look at these as worn out ones will cause darting and other handling woes. This may sound like a lot of stuff but your better off going though it in detail now rather than later.

open the airbox lid and make sure the rivets that hold the screen have been updated, they have been known to rattle loose and go directly in the engine, not good, seen it happen, either silicone them in place or get the updated ones, myself,i siliconed them and the sled has 12000 miles and still going strong

The starter is an item to keep an eye on. The bolts that hold it together tend to loosen. The fix is to take it out and if they haven't become loose yet, just remove one at a time and Red Loctite them. If they did, you might need to re-align the two parts back together.

Another thing is the cold weather update. This is especially important if you're planning on riding in very cold climates. This thread explains it well with a copy of the update and how to check:

Thanks guys good to know, Also i went to start it today and it took a bit of cranking over and finally a shot of fuel and she fired up. The previous owner said it had been sitting for a while and could use a tune up. It starts right up after it is shut off warm ?

mine is the same way. long crank, little blip of the throttle & it's fine starting the rest of the day. maybe run some injector cleaner though it. it seemed to help mine some. i also gave it a good beat run afterwards.

i dont even know what they look like, all i know is that i had a recall letter in the mail about these rivets that needed to be replaced,i never bothered with it cuz i took care of it myself

Its the little clips that hold the screen in the airbox. They were just held in with rivets.Update is new rivets with washers backing them.
