has anyone messed with the fuel mapping, I installed a powercommander and a wideband o2 gauge. Found out my throttle position was only opening 95%, I was able to recalibrate though. Found out these things run really rich, cool thing is that they have a knock sensor so you can lean these pigs out. Just wondering if anyone has found out the same thing. I wish I had a dyno! :4STroke:

Cool!Saving up for a PC for sure.In meantime I used the factory adjustment to lean mine out helped alot.PC will make it perfect. What afr did you get with stock settings?

Mine was rich right off idle.Slight hesitation.Could very well have been my TPS setting though.Would dealer diagnostic tool be only way to check TPS settings or is there specs I could check with a Ohm meter?

I would suspect that would be lean if it is a hesitation feel or waaa and if my interpretation is right.
Rich – would feel more like running flat or a gurgle.

It would make sense for Yamaha to build it as lean, as would be safe, at the bottom to mid to meet fuel emissions and then get it fat on top – so it’s not seized running down the lake in knee deep slush.

Flat was there.Anyway you want to describe it wasnt moving when thumb said go.Seems to me on a 4st its far more common to find these flat spots or whatever to be caused by a rich condition.I will admit though Yamaha has been known to run thier motors awful lean.At least in case of their atv's such as my 06 YFZ.Never heard of a gas 4st burning down from being lean even wide open usually overheat first but it could happen.Got to be careful and AFR and dyno is best way to be sure.

I did some tuning this weekend with the power comander. From the factory there is plenty of fuel in the low to mid range top end is a little lean according to tuning specs (12.7). This is in its stock form. I added a tuned thunder header made by thunder header products, which is actually built for a Harley Davidson V-rod. I built a custom air box and those two combos got me really close on the 12.7 on low to mid. I had to add about 7% more fuel on the top end. I have a mountain phazer 07, and im curious if there is a difference in the map setting from the factory on a flat lander version?

12.7 is the Dynojet recommendation? If airbox and pipe got you to 12.7 in low and mid then they must in fact be very rich on bottom from factory.Wow!Thanks soon as I get a PC I will let you know.Anyone know who has a Dynojet sled dyno in WI?Preferably with tuning link.

12.7 is what tunners say build the most reliable power. 12.7 is tough to be exact but they say 12.7-13.1 thats where i tried to be. Made a huge difference though. Im gonna have to take and dyno it! Its really buggin me to find out track horse.

So how much was the power commander setup with the sensors? I would like to adjust mine a little, as I have fouled two sets of spark plugs now. I'm getting tired of changing those plugs. All of my fouls have been at idle or at slow speeds just loading it into the trailer from the garage. So this thing has to be pretty rich on the bottom.

One I just got for my Raptor was $250 so probably right in that ballpark. You can probably get rid of fouling by taking it to dealer and having them adjust FI a bit.Or this is how I did it.Never fouled a plug but I bet it came close before adjusting. No issues now.I just want Power Commander because it allows total control and preferably tuning link capability.Letting the dyno tune for you is just amazing.Tuning Link tuning would be hard on track though.Just shredded the dyno tires when doing Raptor at 80 and 100%throttle and lower rpm's!Was cool though for sure and very happy with results.

The power commander itself is 339.95 retail. I also have the lcd screen option which is 299.95 retail. The lcd makes it easy to tune on the fly with no pc, but is not needed. I would recomend using a wideband a/f gauge before tunning. Dynojet makes one that plugs into their power commanded but its like 500.00 bucks. I bought a complete gauge kit from innovate motors for 239.00

I have Phazer Power Commander's in stock and will be tuning with one as soon as I get our Phazer back on the dyno.
