Very interesting. It's gotten a lot of critisism but people just can't deny that the Media who've ridden them love them. Way to go Yamaha for pushing the envelope.

sled of the year?? what a BS assessment...not that it's a bad sled...but where the F is the snow? How many miles have these people put on it? Maybe the clutches rattle off at 1500miles????
Sled of the year should be named after the season!!

I'm not a fan of Slowgoer that much. Especially not their forums. However, they take the same complaints from people such as you every year. The way they describe it is they give the award to a sled each year which promises to progress the sport. A sled that pushes the boundaries of current snowmobiling and which delivers features/ride/mechanics which set it apart from the rest.
The Phazer does represents all of these, it's not based on which is the best sled for everyone out there.

The Phazer isn't necessarily I sled I would want to ride personally because I tend to ride mostly high speed smooth trails and that's not really what it was made for. That said, I don't see how any other sled brings more innovation to the sport this year than the Phazer does. The Jag is probably closest in my opinion, but that's only because of all of the adjustability, and they might want to wait to see if that holds up before you give Cat Kudos for doing it.

Here's a question: Does anyone know if and when there was another manufacturer that won the title two years in a row. I can't think of the last time. I don't put much stock in SnoGoer but, it is nice to get recognition for Yamaha.

I'm not completely sure but would think that Polaris did back in the 90's when they ruled the roost ?

Maybe they will get 3 in a row when the new 900 (two 450s welded together) comes out for 08 in a phazer type chassis???
