Did you go through the steering boot?
Well....
Fill us in on how you did it. I will have two to do in a couple of months.

I took off two side panels and two lower side panels and the bottom engine cover, I jack the sled up and went in by steering boot and other open areas, I took a big screw driver and just pryed lightly on filter starter to come loose and then put hand in by boot and loosen off, installed new filter and tightened by hand, should use K/N 147 next time

why did you change the filter, yamaha recommends changing the filter every 20 000 km,that's what i did with my previous warrior,i only changed the filter at the beginning and at 20 000 km then i sold the sled, did not use any oil and it stayed clean all the timeAmsoil 1 said:I only have 3900km on it

I always said that if change oil should change filter because thats what has most of the dirt in it, it dont hirt to do a little extra

X2 what Amsoil 1 said... I'm not sure of the exact material inside the filter, but I don't trust a filter with paper/fiber internals to last more than a season!

Phazer oil and filter change...a perfectly good way to burn half a day.
That K&N filter sure seems like a good idea now.

My first Phazer and first time changing oil.
Getting the all the pannels and air box off was pretty easy thanks to the tips and downloaded manual from this site.
However now I can see the oil filter from above, but can not for the life of me figure out how to get it loose and once loose where to get it out of there. Doesn't look like it will come out the top.
Anymore insight or pictures on how to get it loose and out of there would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the front clip off... doesn't look real hard, but would be nice not to.
I have a K&N 147 that is going to go on and hopefully make the next time easier.
Thanks everyone.

Just use a pair of channel locks to get it loose, and take it out bottom thought the steering boot
Filter Order
Where are you guys buying your K&N 147 filters? I need to order a couple of them so I might as well get on it.
Thanks!

Ordered mine from Dennis Kirk since I was placing an order for some other things anyway.
I am sure any automotive store could order it... probably won't have it in stock.
