Hello all,
I'm doing a university project about engine simulation and have chosen to model the Phazer. I have most of the specs i need except for some key bits of information.
I was wondering if anyone has come across any of these figures.
•Inlet and Exhaust Port Diameter (Throat Diameter)
•Port Geometry for the three different inlet ports
•Conrod Length
•Stock Intake and Exhaust Valve Opening / Closing Degrees
•Lift Profiles of Intake and Exhaust Valves – including phasing of Camshaft
•Camshaft Lobe center position with respect to crank angle degrees
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Tom

Thats where i have got all my current info from, however it doesn't have the specifications I'm after.
Cheers for the reply though.

If I ever have my engine of and apart I would tell you. There are a few around here with blown engines and can tell you, as long as they now what to do or you could call up yamaha and ask (just a thought).
Is the an enginering project? You are not trying to build a cleaner sled are you. Cause that already been done.
I dont know what you are exsactly trying to do but this might be usefull to you - http://www.mtukrc.org/download/niu/niu_ ... r_2009.pdf

Thanks for the technical paper, it was interesting.
My project just involves looking at the stock engine and then trying to improve both fuel efficiency and power. Fairly basic.
However, I need those particular stats to model the engine accurately.
Cheers for the reply.

well there are people with blown engines already out of the sleds, best bet there.

Cheers mate, but again I have already read through the tear down and squish zone stickies without any luck.
Its not something you really look for when doing a tear down its more of a tuning thing to find these figures.
Not to worry. I'll keep trying.

I think this is a cool idea. I am not sure why you want to start with an engine that probably has had the #*$&@ engineered out of it.

I sorta agree with him there is a lot of enginering put into this engine. I go to school for engineering and would not tackle this project alone but then engineers tend to work in groups. That paper I sent you that was there year end project, that is the whole class working on that project.
I never did any cam timing on the motor.Head is ported already so I cant give you stock dimensions.I can measure a rod for you though.

It should be 'their' year end project, not 'there'...
