If you move the spring sliders( the one with the wheel where the end of the torsion spring is in) Back, there is a hole further back this will dramatically stiffen up the suspension ( shorter lever on the spring)
No cost just work and makes a huge difference .

I put the 2500nm springs in this year and it is way better. Sits in the top of the stroke and doesn't bottom nearly as easy.

I put the heavy springs in and put the rear shocks from an 08 rtx in the skid and its pretty nice now. its an 09 mtx/rtx now and we put the cliker shocks in the front. the springs made the big difference. got the shocks on ebay for $400. next i'm sawing of half an inch off the track and putting those bergstrom ice screws in and see what happens...........B

I'm looking to put a Fox Float 2 in the Rear position on my MTX and run without springs. I figure the springs are almost 200$ and You can get a single float for ~350$ AND loose quite a bit of weight on the skid.

Stock Phazer skid is garbage. If you get stiffer springs then the shock valving is way out and by the time you put shocks in it you are more than half way to a Timbersled kit.

I had that thought today , Did you look into it yet ?blueironranger said:I'm looking to put a Fox Float 2 in the Rear position on my MTX and run without springs. I figure the springs are almost 200$ and You can get a single float for ~350$ AND loose quite a bit of weight on the skid.

Played around with the Idea this summer and did alot of measuring. Due to the funky "linked shock" setup the Phazer skid has it would require WAY too much work to install a float in the rear position. I DID however install a float in the center position and that fits just fine, I'm still working on the valving though. It a shock that was for a skidoo SC4 and is WAY too stiff. Personally I don't have an issue with the "weak" rear springs that most do, I've just learned to ride it like it was designed, ALL the rider weight up front over front (center) shock/spring and I haven't had too much of an issue with the rear of skid bottoming out. If I ride with my feet back more or sitting down THEN I have issues with the rear of the skid bottoming on bigger bumps. Yamaha designed this skid to have the Front of the skid do 90% of the work, the rear spring/shock combo is just there to keep the skid level and aid in traction, IMO.

I had the sagging problem as well. I ended up buying a beautiful '08 rtx skid from a guy for $300 bucks. I swapped everything from the rtx skid to my mtx rails. no more sag and i've got all the 08 updates on my skid now.

Just found a used skid from an 09 M-1000 to chuck under my phazer. Woo Hoo I finally get to use that 162 I've had sitting in a box
