Well put a deposit on a used 2011 Apex SE. What mods are everyone doing to the newer Apexes? I have had a 06 RTX and a 09 LTX. It already has 153 studs down the middle and Aftermarket skis but stock other than that. Also has 1800 miles which isn't bad for a two year old sled. What do I need to watch out for? What clutch kits work the best on the new Apexes? I have a HC 2 speed Drag n Flies and a Ulmer kit. I will also be picking up a PC5 from Ulmer once I get rid of my PC3 and Ing module. Has anyone run Pilots on the new Apex and how do they work? Thanks and let the snow start falling.....

If it's got studs, check your muffler, pipes and heat exchanger. There is little room for studs on the 2011s. Add extra tunnel protection.

I'm told by the dealer that the added protection was done but will be checking over very very closely. The dealer has serviced the sled since new so they have all the records and I'm calling the original owner tonight hopefully he's as anal as me when it comes to taking care of my sleds.Grimm said:If it's got studs, check your muffler, pipes and heat exchanger. How is the clearance on the front exchanger? Is there anything to add to that to protect the front since I've had bad luck in that area before

Front is Fine. Lotsa room.
So is the rest if you have 1.325's.
6,000k on my , not a stud mark on anything.

Anyone running clutch kits and which one? I think I can just recut my Ram Air lid and it will fit the new 2011 Apex. I know the PC5 from Ulmer is a must since my Ulmer PC3 and Ing module won't work on the new ones I also have my almost new Excel wheels and other stuff to put on it. Any other must do mods comments? suggestions?
mine too. 4300 miles and no problems. Do not go bigger than 1.325 and you will be fine.Riceburner said:Front is Fine. Lotsa room.

that was going to be my question as well.
so no need for extra tunnel/exchanger protection with the 1.325" suds? just factory protection?

My new-to-me 11 SE was purchased with an already studded track (153 1.325" up the middle) This is what I found:

The guy I bought it from looked like he weighed about 190 lbs... so it was not ridden by a particularly big guy.
I chose to add protection to the already dealer reinforced protector brackets.
