play in clutch?

Hi guys really no jack about the clutch system, was having a look see today and noticed a little play in the secondary sheave. Its this normal? there was about 3mm play right near the bolt end. I thought the bolt was loose.

Also if i need to replace a belt out in the snow how hard is it? Do i need special tools.

The play ius normal.The beldt is easy just puch in the helix and pull the beld off.

IF you lock your parking brake and then push IN and CLOCKWISE, the secondary will open. Slip the belt down and out. Try it in your garage or trailer a few times and you'll get the hang of it. The movement in the secondary is completely normal. Pro 116 sometimes types with his elbows LOL!!

thanks guys, i had a go taking it off yesterday and all was good nice and easy BUT later on after riding for a good 6 hours i was riding up a powder faced hill when i had to stop to avoid hitting a tree, i got stuck and tried going in reverse to get out, no deal she was stuck down to the tunnel.
After digging her out we tried moving forward and all we got was rubber smoke and no drive! We took off the cover and found the belt was slipping down the bottom of the shaft. We replaced the belt and all was good she drove right out. Now the old belt was fine no cracks or flat spots, we cant understand why this happened?? Could it have been the packed snow in the track putting strain on the belt?

If you lock the brake when the track is spinning, thats what happens. The clutches shift out dropping the belt in to the secondary. In effect, you are then trying to start in a higher gear. Done the WAY too many times LOL! I'd be willing to bet the old belt is going to clunk if you try to use it. Might be OK in a short term emergency, but it'll need replacement.

lock the brake? what do you mean? We didnt use the park brake if thats what you mean.

Grab the brake is what I should have said. It will also happen if you let off the throttle and the clutches don't backshift. Only way to stop it from burning the belt is to pull the belt by hand back to its starting position or lift the rear of the sled and gas it to clear the snow out and allow the clutches to backshift. Hope this helps!!

right now i get it , i think i may have hit the brake as i stopped then rolled it back a little. At least i now how to fix it, thanks again
