i just changed this thing over to a flatlander because i never do mountains,Lack of snow is forcing me to go,i have a 1 1/4 track on it and changed it to 9 tooth drivers, gearing is 21-39,do you think i should leave it at home and take my 136 sxr? what clutching might work in this rx1 mountain, this will be my only trip so i dont want to spend any loot on it. and i just sold my 2 inch track so i dont want to put it back on,i thinmkin i should leave it at home but dammit its my new sled????

mountains

We are in the same boat, other than I have the 2" track. If you get into where the snow is setup a little it should be fine. The sled is great in powder, great climbing, just not great climbing in powder. I tried a few different things clutching, Heavy hitters and hitec er, I either got wonderful track speed or bang on RPM but never both at the same time. I rode revelstoke, on frisby and boulder, and its by far the worst sled out there, also by far not the best. Take it, take some wrenches for setting your clutches, and ride it like you stole it. If you want to climb, use a real good long runway, you cant putter up to it like we did on the actual 'mountain' sleds.

I say take the RX-1 you'll have a ball. If you have a set of Simmons skis on your other sled pu them on the RX-1 it will help a lot. The RX-1M has its strong points too. If you are riding any trails it will excel as you know. If there is an area for any type speed contest my money would be on you (especially with a 1 1/4" track). Economy, you shouldn't have to haul fuel like the big twins do.
Look at the positives and have fun. PB

well kb i have a few sets of weights around, also the er i have a 40,42, 46 nad a 48-46,so dammit i should get it to rev. My buddy is going with a 93 max 4 so i hope i wont be dead last on the hill

take what you can, throw your wrenches and helixes into your backpack, and find out what runs the best. You should have pant leg loads of track speed, you are probably 100+ lbs lighter than me, your track is lighter, and you have all the toys. Make sure you have all the emergency gear, backpack, shovel, probe, beacon, rope, for absolute essentials, if you dont have them get ahold of me, you can use mine if needed, but do NOT ride without them, or let anyone else ride without them, your life is in their hands.

You can use any of these items you may want to as well.

Here are some of the extras I have lying around. 54/42 Dalton helix, a set of Dalton 55.5, 57.5 and adjustable Dalton weights with 2 holes per weight loaded to 56.6 grams, 89A loaded to 56.6 grams, 8DN-00 loaded to 56.6 grams, Blue Dalton spring, Silver Dalton spring, Red Dalton spring, Yamaha G/P/G or is it P/G/P?, Yamaha P/O/P or is it O/P/O?, Yamaha P/S/P, Yamaha silver secondary springs, ect..................

Again, I think you'll do just fine. Where are you going? PB

toys

I put a used set of c&a pro wide skis on, and they are amazing. If you get a chance at all, get some wide skis on. There was NO snow over the hood, my srx's always sprayed powder on me.
