The small spring that goes between the gears is in fact the one above. When I took the chaincase off I believe it fell out. Want to be sure before I put the cover back on.

Thanks. What is the purpose of this spring (pardon my ignorance on how reverse system works)?
I think it provides tension and allows some misalignment for the reverse to shift in when the gears are not perfectly aligned.
