Friend picked one up, drove it off trailer and it ran out of gas. Went to start it after filling and its only running on one cylinder? Possible fouled plug?

Possible?

What year is the Dragon? Has it had the unpdates/reflashes done?

Hope so, and just so you know, Polaris will no longer stand behind these motors so do a bunch of research before your buddy heads out for a ride.

Good luck

I feel bad for your friend, I hope he has a very good mechanical knowledge and doesn't mind being towed alot.

Man are you guys positive people..... NOT!!!!!

The CFI engines in the rmk's do foul plugs on start up easily if the sled gets shut down with proper warm up and use. Try swapping out the plugs and I bet the sled is fine.

HAHA you guys are the best, it was a plug but I warned him too Polaris can't make an 800 right now. He has had the flash but they say you need a pcv to prevent the inevitable. Needless to say hes got 4 yrs bumper to bumper warranty he paid alot for. Should cover 4 rebuilds, i cant understand why anyone would pay 10,000 for something that will barely make a year. unreal

I don't want to also be negative but the Dragon 800's were and are turds. They could never get the CFI-4 system to work properly and dumped it in favor of the CFI-2. There are a bunch of threads about how guys have "fixed" them so if I were him I'd do a bunch of reading and research and then go with whatever approach seems to make the most sense.

My buddy had an '08 Dragon and it was so unreliable it turned him from a die hard, life long Polaris guy to Arctic Cat. Another friend bought a '10 Dragon 800 and it has left him stranded twice. Once for a voltage regulator and the second time it burned down. His sled also has warranty but from what I've read, Polaris keeps track of how much they spend on warranty and will not honor any new repairs once the warranty costs have met the cost of the sled. I don't know if this is the original purchase price or if they figure in depreciation?

The CFI-4 800 has cost Polaris a lot of customers.

Yep, I'm one, and now that I have gone with a 4 stroke Yamaha, I doubt they will ever get me back.

well guys, went out for a rip today with the dragon and i ended up having to double him back since he blew a piston(assuming) at 400miles. |Sure id like to have a fun light sled but if i need to buy 4 yrs warranty and with some on their 4th engine? Id say screw that. Especially when i see new 800 owners having a party that they got to 1000miles. Wow, Ill pay 15,000 than pay 10,000 for that and wonder when it will leave me stranded. Im not bashing but it makes yamahas problems trivial. Why put a motor out there like that??

Sorry to say, but I knew it was only a matter of time.

Feel for your buddy, he must be peed!

This always makes me go :o|

You are having trouble with your Polaris so dump it and take it down a notch for a Cat ..........and expect better luck :dunno:

Cat has a much more reliable 800 two stroke motor. This year he went from a '12 800 Cat to a new, '13 1100 turbo.

If you decide to repair that 800, turn up the oiling system. They tend to run lean at mid-range RPMs.
