Polishing my Tunnel

Flitz is making a protector(sealer) that I bought at the snow show. It will be interesting to see how well it works.

I completely ruined my cut and polish job on mine. I wetsanded everything, had it to a mirror finish and then decided to use some Turtle wax I had laying around and now it's murky. Still really shiny and better than before, but you can see the wax film on it. Make sure you use a better quality sealer than I did.

Shiny! Looks great, giving me some inspiration to work on the sled.

I haven't had any luck with any sealer after working very hard to polish. I just keep it clean and touch up once during the season, then a re-polish in the fall.

My experience as well - every sealer I tried dulled my finish, so I decided to use nothing after the final round of Mothers Billet Polish. I have kept it clean, but never done a mid season touch up. I am surprised how good it still looks one year later.

What I have been doing, and find it to work pretty good...is wax the tunnel after it is polished. It keeps the water off the tunnel and seems to help make the shine last. A quick touch up during the season with just a clean microfibre towel and it looks like I spent 3 hours polishing.

Sounds good, I will stick to this for now, thanks! :rocks:

Another good polish is from 3M. It is Mag & Aluminum Polish part # 39529. Can find it at high-end auto stores. GM guys have used it on cars for years. I like it better then Mothers. ;)!

Since your "addicted". You can get your fix with my sled.

Looks fantastic!

HaHa!! Now my son wants me to do his sled also. I have a roller chair, turn the tunes and heat on in the garage and do it whenever I get bored. I bet I did it about 10 times so far by hand. My son's 2008 sits next to mine and his original aluminum looks horrible :tg:

New goal now is to make mine better looking than yours hahaha
