The only places that area getting any real snow is a15 mile wide band just around Buffalo, and a 20 mile band in the Watertown area. Both bands will shift south on Friday, but weaken up alot.

I feel your pain man...We got a teaser amount of just under 2 inches the other day...Looked great but didn't last. From what I hear though we might be getting a decent amount of snow on Sunday-Monday (Knocks on wood). I don't know what those days look like for you but cross your fingers and pray to the snow gods!

Black Warrior is correct. The heavy snow in NY is limited to a very small area. I live on the Lake Ontario shoreline, which is prime lake effect snow real estate, and all we have a crusty 1" on the ground from Wednesday. A southwest wind, common early in the season, causes Lake Erie to pummel the areas south of Buffalo and north of Watertown. As the season progresses, the wind becomes more W and NW, favoring us on the south shore and areas from the middle of Tug Hill and south to about Syracuse.

Sounds like you got some "Meteorologist" competition, BBW!

We're gettin hit with some, about a foot right now. We're right on the upper edge of the usual lake effect region.

I rode my sled around the yard on Wednesday....with a silly grin on my face. I had just cleaned the carbs for the first time and wanted to see if the sled ran better....it did! My neighbors were pulling out of their driveway at the same time shaking their heads at me!!!!! I can just imagine what they were thinking....."2 inches of snow on the ground and that weirdo is riding his sled around!!!"

LOL.. Thats the story of my life, Ever since I was a kid I would ride my sleds around the yard as soon as it started to get cold. As soon as the leaves started to turn colors my neighbors would start asking if it was time for my annual "first frost grass drag" with my sled across all their yards.. Lucky I had some cool neighbors...
