I talked to a Hygear rep and he said a price reduction is coming for their rear coil over shock for Single Shot Apex/Vectors. Currently at $989 that might get them selling. It would for me. Ha. Mean time Elka has a few here that I know of.

That's good news as I have 2 of these slingshot suspensions. One mine and one for the Mrs. I nearly broke my back last ride of last season. I was riding a paved rail trail not groomed but only had 4 inch drifts on it! And from what I have read and the reply I got from Yamaha to a Service manager where I bought the first one. They have no intention of fixing it. PS they want me to buy a YES warranty for the 2nd sled when all they can say is NO! I did spend $900.00 for 4 years of coverage on the first one. That is the one they said NO on. Even though the shock when set to their spec. Does not provide even close to the sag spec they have listed in the owners manual. They basically ride like a brick. Otherwise I love both of these machines.

The replacement shock does make a huge difference for what it's worth. My local dealer that did not carry Yamaha at the time of my purchase said no to the replacement. My selling dealer got it done within a day or two. Service is night and day difference between the two as well.

A more cost friendly alternative other than the Yamaha replacement would be nice

I bought a brand new leftover 2016 Apex last year. The shock definitely is harsh compared to my 13 Apex with the mono shock. A price reduction would be nice with the Hygear otherwise I’ll go with the updated Yamaha shock.

I got the updated shock for my 2018 Vector from the dealer at no cost to me. By the way you paid way to much for your 4 yr. warranty.

I got the updated shock as well .. and don't know the difference between the first one and new one but it rides fine. They say it's good and much better then the first one..
I'm pushing the limit with what I carry for it.. going coil over could get me on top of it.. but I'll see this season as I only put 300 on it last season in good riding conditions.
