I HAVE A 2011 APEX XTX AND THE QUESTION IS IT WORTH GOING TO THE POWER COMMANDER V ON THIS SLED? WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES? THERE HAS TO BE A FEW STOCK SLEDS WITH THIS OUT THERE. D&D? ULMER? IS IT WORTH ALMOST 400 BUCKS OR IS THE MONEY BETTER SPENT ON BEER?

Give Allen a call and ask him! i did back in 08 for my RTX and it ripped. 116 mph on gps never lost to another NA apex in the 6 years i had it. He knows what he's doing thats for sure!

Hey thanks for the info, I am shocked you are the only one who tried a power commander on your apex. I thought there would have been more feed back on here.

I just ordered mine from allen yesterday. 340 bucks pre tuned for my mods and that includes shipping. The internet price was higher then what i got it for.

i added one this summer along with an air box mod. Sled finally starts and runs right away instead of wanting to die right away. Throttle response seems much better with it just running in the garage cant wait for snow to rip it!

I run PCV on my 2013, 2011 Apexs, 2009 Nytro XTX and all my wheelers as well as my 06 Apex SC Super Charged sled... they work just need to get the tune and clutching right to see the gains from the box.

As far as I am concerned its the only way yo get the new 2011 and up Apexs to really fly. Air Box Mod is a must as well.

what did it do to your fuel consumption. I dont sweat a little but my bike with pipes and a pcv wont do beter then 25 mpg and will go as bad as 15mpg if i try real hard. it was supose to get 40 or so mpg from the factory thats a big diffrence. hassnt made me change it to stock but whis it didnt loose so much. what if any have you noticed on the 2011 and up apex's

The tune is what makes it work well. Buy from a shop that has the tune mapped out already. Allen Ulmer is a very good source.

It helped the Apex MPG a little bit... maybe a 1 to 2 MPG. Most important on the new Apex is to get the powervalve set correctly.

I added one of these to my piped Yamaha Warrior Motorcycle and I was getting 35 to 40 mpg depending on how you drove the bike. I would guess that your map is way off on the bike to have to that far off on how you ride it.

thanks Tom i think it is mostly cause of the pipes they are just straight pipes and it is an 109 ci engine i have tried 3 diffrent maps and my buddy has the same loss on the suzuki engine so I think it might just be the way it is. it is set up for hp and it sure hauls butt. i never get good gas mieage with anything i drive/ride i always put the most gas in at the pump on sled trips too and i am the only one with a newer apex others are 06 and 07's

right on  just glad to hear the norm is for it to be a little better on the apex may be worth it then.

Well as you know Tom, I wasn't happy with my pcv as it gave me problems. Just couldn't get it to work very good for my turbo sled. Maybe a little modded sled it would be easier to tune. $300 for a little better mpg is asking a lot. A good tuned clutch can give you that.

If you look at the cost for the gain... its tough to justify. I know you had issues getting yours dialed in but they have a new pcv that handles boost.. Did you have the PCV PTI? After last year mine is working really well, way better then a GEMS Controller...and all the other PCVs that I run on non boosted units work really well too... but the cost is hard to justify for the gains but its the only unit out there to be able to control your fuel when you mod a fuel injected machine.on the units that isnt way over priced.

I know there are Dyno Tuners that will build you custom maps but that is more money but they work.

Rode my xtx all last season with pc5 and air box mod runs great is it worth it? Well it isn't any faster than my buddy's identical sled, with same miles on machines same suspension setups, but the throttle response is crisper and a touch better fuel mileage. Is it worth it? Don't know what to say. I am not going to say yes just to justify me spending a bunch of money. Good luck.
