powermadd small round mirrors

I got tired of replacing the round Powermadd mirrors so this is what I did instead. I found these small convex mirrors at an automtive supply store and adapted them to fit inside my handguards. I've had them wacked hard by branches and they haven't come off yet in two seasons.

Same experience after running a couple of seasons with the Powermadd. Never cared for just seeing a headlight behind me with them either - you can't even see what color the sled is with the headlight. So I've been doing some experimenting too. Don't have any pics yet though. The company that makes the mirrors that you fasten to your wrist also make a handlebar mounted mirror that fastens in place using velcro. They use that same wrist mirror which is much bigger than the Powermadd, but not so big that it looks clumsy when installed. The handlebar mount comes with a pivot point to help adjust it/get it pointed in the right dirtection, and also to let it move should it get whacked or for covering. If the majority of the handlebar mount is removed, maybe leaving just a couple of inches to the pivot, it can be fastened using a bolt or two through the remainder of that bracket to about any handguard I've tried it on - much the same way the Powermadds are shown being mounted in the pictures above. I'll get a pic or 2 as soon as I can, maybe this weekend. FWIW

OK the pics as mentioned in the notes above. The manf. for the mirrors I used is CIPA. Shown in no particular order, they should give you an idea of how the modded CIPA mirrors look vs. the PowerMadd, as well as show the fact they are much larger without looking too bad at all. There's also a pic of what it may look like after getting whacked with a branch or folded to allow a cover to be used something the Powermadd doesn't do well either. Maybe these will get somebody else thinking and we'll get some more ideas going. I went to these this summer on the quads. They work really well there with no buzzing, and seem to hold adjustment well too. -Al

I too run the powermadd mirrors on my guards and had them fall off but I called the company and they told me they had a bad batch of tape and switched to a heavy duty 3m adhesive that haven't come off since and they sent me 2 replacement mirrors.

MADD MIRROR WARRANTY

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT POWER MADD WILL SEND YOU REPLACEMENT MIRRORS AT NO CHARGE IF THEY FALL OFF......THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THEM.

Even with that, they're still too small to really see what's going on. For instance, you can see if there's a sled in back of you easy enough, but it's near impossible to tell if it's your riding partner, or somebody wanting to pass you.... Admitted, they are much better than nothing!
