I just checked 3 other sleds all the same, makes me wonder if it was a mistake or on purpose.

Wow,never seen that before on any clutch of any kind, heck even the hauck speed sheeves were same OD but different thickness to make up the push, this is odd for sure stone, good catch.lets hope it was by design.
Not going to want your belt at top of sheave then. At least not the outer!

Do not see the concern here...? your only talking a 1/8" diff in sheave height at any time. Plus at full shift the clutch is likely shimmed to not even come close to letting the belt over ride a sheave...Plus Iam sure they know this and there is a real reason..... Draw two circles one 8-1/2 and one 8-1/4" from the same center point and you will see its only a 1/8" diff. I have seen this on Cat clutching years back.

It's a 1/4'' not 1/8''. Not concerned, just curious. If there is a "reason" for it, maybe everybody here just learned something new, but it makes no sense from a technical stand point. Now if it was a left-over part that fits & it can't go above it, then no harm no foul. Still very ODD!
I have no concern running it just wondering why they did this or was it a mistake and I would be happier if both sheaves were 8-1/2 that way we could get more overdrive like they promised when selling theses sleds so I wouldn't have to machine it.

Like I said... draw two circles you will see. if your telling me one sheave is only 1/4" "overall" larger than the other it amounts to only 1/8 " in height per half. Seen this as noted years back on other brands and zero issues. Think we are are over thinking this one. Plus C/C from primary to secondary is set in stone from factory with all the math and geometry being done to full shift to the smaller primary sheave dia. Plus there are guys already running the piss out of these things testing for that 1/2 mph more and looking at full shift... I think this would have bit them.

Yes we know it's 1/8'' on one side, but still seems kinda afterthought-ish. I don't see a problem & i"m not worried, but some of us are just curious little beavers. The pursuit of knowledge is a never ending journey. At TTY we ask questions, then if it needs to be addressed, we fix it. If not, we lock it away in our OCD little brains...
You are right Rich Kay. Very small difference when a guy thinks of it that way. Odd they do that but kinda makes sense. Since that is the sheave that is moving its pushing the belt which would be slightly cocked with high point up at the bigger outer sheave. Nothing to worry about just never noticed that before. Interesting!

Plus i'd rather have 8 1/2'' than 8 1/4'' anyways. Size matters when talking OVER-DRIVE clutches boys. This is one of those few times it matters...

Is really cool that with Sidewinder we have alot of the best in the world taking a close look at everything. I think all of us here at TY are going to learn alot with this sled and the new folks making it the best it can be. Nice find Stone88!

Hey guys , My thought is the outer sheave (which is the larger) in this case had to be in order to "contain" all the design of moving parts of the movable sheave and have the integrity??? There is ALOT of forces being generated within the movable sheave.
