I've got an 05 Rage with 9000 miles on it. I took the clutch apart last week just to inspect. Bushings seem good on rollers and weights. I put a new belt on too. When I go full throttle my R's only go to about 8200 and then drop to 8000 as the speed increases. Any body know why this would happen. I thought I should go to 8500 and stay there.

Check the secondary plastic pucks. Also your primary spring might be sacked out.

The Secondary's Spring could be bad. They only last a season or so.

But, ...

But, I think you have carbs. Right? If yes, the Carbs probably need a good cleaning. I saw my WOT RPM falling off late last year. Did nothing but cleaned the carbs and the RPMs came right back up where they used to be. I have come to the conclusion that if you see the shift RPM falling off, the first place to check is the carbs. Then look at the clutches.

Now that I think about it I think your right on with that diagnosis. I forgot all about my having the same problem with my 700SXR 5 years ago. Same thing was happening. My wife was beating me in drags and she only had an MXZ500. I ended up bringing it to the shop and they cleaned my carbs. Whole new animal the next time I wnt out. I will probrably just bring it back to the shop again. I use Sunnyside cycles in Alexander New York. Great guys. Charged me a $100 to clean the carbs and go through the sled. I think they also played with the weights a little. I don't mind cleaning A carburetor but I dont like pulling that whole rack out!

Thanks
