Went to install primary cover had all bolts snug I then grabbed the torque wrench that I believe wasn't working properly do to cold weather I had it setup to 10ftlbs it never clicked. I broke a bolt off flush with the threads IM not sure how I'm going to get it out drill it and tap it? Very small easy out? I'm also wondering if it would be safe/ok to run it with just the other 5 in it. I do want it fixed and I do want to ride it. What would you do?

I personally wouldn't run it like that as it will be out of balance, just my 2 cents on that however. As long as you didn't use any locktight on those bolts it should come out easy with an "easy out" tool as the pressure was released when it broke.

Is it completely flush or sticking out enough to tap it around with chisel?
If it's completely flush you could use some jb weld and attach a new bolt to the end and rotate it out? I do that in areas I can't or don't want to get a welder involved.

If it is lose in the hole the eraser end of a pencil might work to spin it out.

what HABS 1 said or i'd get a set of easy outs. It should be easy enough to work with the clutch on the bench.

Trick is to use a good, sharp drill bit (left or right) and get the hole in the center and deep enough for the easy-out. If it is loose it might come out with a left hand drill bit alone.

I have great luck with left hand drill bits. If you use an easy out use the square ones not the twisted.

so... ...what is the amount of torque for those bolts? or... just snug them good?

10 ft lbs. I never torqued them before thought I'd do it the right way going back to just snug them up

I agree as using a half inch torque wrench is hard to hear the click with such a low torque setting of only 10 lbs. I prefer just using a 1/4 ratchet & just snuggling them10 ft lbs. I never torqued them before thought I'd do it the right way going back to just snug them up

That's a funny looking clutch the bolt is stuck in.....

It was one of six bolts that hold the cover on the primary. I got it out with a left hand drill bit. It came out easily thanks all for the help and ideas I now have six new ones on order. I handed my 1/4 torque wrench to the snap-on man today to have it re calibrated. I feel that because of the amount of times I had the cover on and off I that the bolts are weak and worn out. I have always used my 1/4 ratchet to snug them up and that's what I'm going back to
