One thing I noticed on my RX is that the side belt clearance on my primary seems to be a little much making for a little harsh engagement with the stock belt. I have a Dayco ultimax 3 in now but still the side clearance seems too much.
What is suppose to be the proper side belt clearance when the belt is at the bottom of the primary. You know what distance is the belt suppose to be away from the sheaves on the primary. If mine is off then how can you adjust it and what tools or parts will I need.

There aren't any special tools, nor is there an easy way to adjust what you are talking about. The sheave next to the motor spins on to the other sheave hub, it has banana shaped lead spacer wedges which are made to stop the sheave at a certain spot when spinning it on, you can actually see these if you look real good right where the center shaft and motor side sheave meets.
The only way to tweak this to a specific tolerance is to break it down and bring it to a machine shop, some machining is required. I do not recommend this, but, if you do, make sure to adjust your secondary offset because the primary offfset will change with your new adjustment, thus your clutch alignment will be off !! :wink

touched,
thanks for the info. it looks like i would have to buy a special tool and some shims to do what i want. do you know of another way to reduce the clearance then buying that $129 tool. I would buy the shims but heck once I set the clearance to what i want i would not need the tool anymore.

Shims
Desh you could always take the clutch to your dealer and ask him to do it. It takes about 5 minutes. The shims are available in different widths from Hauck or you can take a belt sander and remove the amount you want. They are made out of steel and easy to adjust on a sander. My dealer put mine in for free.
