Besides owning a lodge in Northern Maine I am also a certified 5 star tech for McGuire Motorsports in Houlton ME.
I had to call the rta's at yamaha yesterday on an unrelated warranty issue, but when I had him on the phone I asked about reports/ progress on nytro issues.
He told me that they are currently working on a fix for the wet left boot.
Also said that the ski lift / excessive weight transfer/ handling issues are being addressed.
What fixes come or when, he could not say. I can tell you from experience that it rarely comes quick, maybe by the end of the season.

As soon as I find out more, I will let everyone know.

I can't stress enough the importance of communicating issues you are having with your dealer. If we don't here from you we asume you have no issues! The more of you that are having issues tell your dealer or yamaha, the quicker these can be resolved.

Thanks
Jon

I'll just say this and let it be....

Yamaha knows about every ligitimate 'issue' I have seen brought up on this site.... and others!

What they are going to do about them is hard to say.. Some will be addressed some will seem to be ignored. As always safety and reliability will get the most attention. With comfort and inconvinence getting addressed as time allows or with the new model year.

Yamaha has done a great job in building a competely new and different type of sled than their norm and doing this without many issues at all for being a new model

Thanks for the info and welcome to TY.com, but as 08NytroRTX said, Yamaha is WELL aware already. I called Yamaha directly way back in early Dec and the tech sort of accidently admitted they "very closely follow all of the chat forums and are already aware of the complaints". I of course loggged an official complaint while I was on the phone anyhow.
Im confident there will be buletins and fixes for SOME of the issues, I just hope their not obvious or silly ones like 20% off a new pair of boots and gloves, raise the limiter strap and pretty much all of the chassis tricks were all figuring out on our own. Im not being sarcastic btw......

I for one would be a little happier with an extension to my warranty since I bought mine in the fall.

As I figured my handwarmer issue on my FX Nytro RTX was ignored and as far as this being a new model and so on, I don't think the handwarmer issue is a new one as this seems to be an ongoing problem since 2006 with the Apexs .

With all the technology Yamaha has i cant believe they don't know what the problem is. I believe the fix has already been made and all the new sleds are just depleting the warehouse of poorly designed grips, bars, controllers or whatever the problem is sorry to vent its just very aggravating.

I'm not trying to start a verbal donnybrook here, but with all due respect, with the exception of the motor and drivetrain, this thing has issues from front bumper to snow flap. Big time! You're obviously not seeing what I'm seeing out there. The front clip issue alone is a major problem and needs to be rectified somehow. Coming off of the rock-solid rep of the Vector and Apex platforms, the Nytro is not even in the ballpark... Yet. Whether it's handwarmers, weight transfer, or tweaked clips, owner's have every right to complain and expect a viable solution. Afterall, most did pay around $10k for this sled.

I still cannot for the life of me figure out what these engineers and test riders for any of the four brands are getting paid to do? Why would you put a product out on the snow that has issues like these and it's not just the Nytro, the new XP-Revs are damned near as bad. :o|

i think they just need to pay jon and me to go ride the demos two years before and tell them what is wrong with them.

sometimes it does seem that the people that build sleds have never taken them out for a ride.

something as simple as shimming the skis the wrong way for the last 11 years.

Ahh I own BOTH and it not even close which sled has more issues!

I don't recall my Yamaha dealer calling to warn us NOT to ride our FX Nytro not once BUT TWICE like our Ski-doo dealer did on my wife's XP. Yes these items were addressed and fixed under warrenty, THREE MONTHS AFTER I PICKED UP OUR SLED!!!
I refuse to get into a "one brand is better than another' argument here.

Both are new model year sleds and BOTH have some quirks (measure them how ever you want to) but IF one thinks ANY a-arm type sled can take a punch from a ski hitting something with enough interia without sustaining damage those people may want to review the laws of physics.... Can it be improved on? You bet! But @ what price? Not everyone is going to want to pay for a Ti front nose frame and A-Arms. Not every one wants 10-15 more pounds up front either. Spindles are an easy fix and should be out on the 09 model.

Do you have a std Nytro or the RTX and what issues are you having from bumper to snow flap?

See my post in the "satisfied nytro owners" thread about being able to live with the problems, even if they are obvious ones that should have been fixed before leaveing the factory, when purchasing a first year sled.

I guarantee you will never see Yamaha do anything about he front clip. It will just cost them too much money. I agree that they do want to help with a few things. However if its going to cost them any serious cash I doubt you will see them fix it the problem. My two cents.

come on you guys, get real, both or all of these sled manufacturers are sending their products out to soon and have come to expect us die hards to put serious time and money into an already expensive vehicle, would this be acceptable in the auto world? NOOO! I'm lucky I bought a nytro, now I know what a good sled the rev is.
