I took care of a friends Riv-nut problem, which was the holes were 14-18mm by 10-12mm... Carefull playing with the tool achived the proper mushroom affect even with the large holes. I also use locktite on my mount bolts as my skidplate gets lots of testing.

I too called Fastenal and was told that the smallest lot he could get would be a box of forty at approximately $0.70 a piece. I only need four of them and I would like them to be longer than the ones that came with the install kit. I would certainly be interested in going in on a group purchase if others were also interested in getting the right equipment to install their skid plates.
I am basically looking for them for my dealer he is going to buy the lot as he has a need for them from people wanting them and calling him. I am simply going to buy what I need from him once I set him up. Doing it for myself and other sled owners really. Dealer is happy he does not have to waste time looking and finding a supply of them. Maybe you could do the same.

i think the riv-nut things are junk, i started to put mine in and then i said the hell with it. there is enough material there so i just tapped them with a fine thread tap 5/16" and put bolts in. i'll see how it does after i ride it.
I thought of doing the same thing then I could use blue loctite and not worry about having the rivnut spin instead of the bolt coming out.timebomb said:i think the riv-nut things are junk, i started to put mine in and then i said the hell with it. there is enough material there so i just tapped them with a fine thread tap 5/16" and put bolts in. i'll see how it does after i ride it.

yeap, thats what i did, blue medium loctite and lock washers. i bet it won't go anywhere.
How many of you guys had skid plates where the holes in the plate didn't match the holes in the sled? On my wifes red one, I had to slot the two rear holes about 3/16" to get them to line-up, and on my black one I didn't even attempt it. The front holes on the nose are about an inch out of location. It's like the center section of the plate is an inch too long. The plate was also warped considerably, probably part of the problem. My dealer got a new one for me, but I haven't gone to get it yet.
