Anyone think of a solution to prevent snow getting between the skidplate and the bottom of the sled thus turning to water and then ice and then eventually pulling the skid plate right off? Im thinking the wellnuts ive been given are probably going to be garbage in my experience.

Don't want to make this more complicated than it is, but I have to ask a couple of questions. Are we talking about the Attak or the XTX. The 07 Attak skidplate actually fits very tight and I would think if it was installed properly, I wouldn't think you'd have too many problems. Are you talking wellnuts or rivnuts, rivnuts being what came with the factory installation kit. If you used the rivnuts that came with the kit for a skidplate for an 07 Attak, and you are experiencing them coming loose, you should order and install the next size longer rivnut, which is 17.27 mm long and that should fix your problem.

Slicone it. Had to do it to the 06, after off trail riding then having it sit over night it would build ice.

Drill 1/4" hole, and tap them. Install 1/4" bolts. Watch for hose.

Apex 06, Do you mean silicone all along the edge, or do you mean fill the inside bottom of the skidplate grooves and smooth it out so that the water has no where to sit?

Yes along the front edge's. Keep the back free of silicone.

I have been using rubber wellnuts to attach the skidplate on my 06 Attak for years. Periodically I will need to replace them due to the rubber wearing but I have not had the skid plate pull off yet.
