I took my 08 Nytro up to Hauk this weekend. I know Iknow! Don't need no Pat bashing here please. When they were taking the sled apart to finish the mods they found a couple of things.
First problem was the SUBFRAME:
They said that the ski's were out, and the subframe was one of the bad ones from Yamaha. The swapped the subframe out with the new style. Any issues with this new one? The bracing plate on the bottom is flat, and has a hole in the center. Similar to the 09, or the 08 stiffner kit. Any extra bracing or changes need to be done while they have it apart?

Second problem:
When me and a guy from my shop were putting the revalved shocks, and the muffinworks resevoirs back on my worker screwed up big time. We mounted the resevoirs on the plastic frame where the air intake box used to be. This way you could see the shiny cylinders through the hood openings, and they were easy to fill. To run the hoses we had to remove the antifreeze resevoir, and a little spilled.in the skid plate. We cleaned it up. When I dropped it off, I told Pat and Titus to look it over. They found out when they took the engine out, that my worker drilled through the face of the radiator. While drilling the resevoir mounting holes :o| . I can not believe he did this. The holes where for the clamps. The radiator cost was about $240.00 OUCH!!

So because of the subframe problem, and Hauk not having a radiator in stock; I was not able to get my sled this weekend. I would rather them take their time, and get everything dialed in right. So now I have to drive another 7 hour there, and back because of this :whine: . Unbelievable

Are they covering the Subframe Under Warntey?

Yes they are. It just stinks to go up there for four days thinking you are getting a few things/improvements done. Then you run into problems like this. Long ride there and back for no snow to play in.

What a clusterbleep!! When it's done I'm sure it will be one hell of a sled! I would be double checking everything.

That sucks. I would definitely want to keep the old radiator. Might be possible to fix it in case something bad happens again, PLUS, it is nice to actually see the damaged parts and not just have to take their word for it.

I was up that way hunting this weekend. So I drove an hour back down to take a look at the damage. I saw it with my own eyes. Perfectly lined up with the idiots hole. To bad his check might be short for the next couple weeks :tg:
I saw the sub frame also. Looks a little beefier then the old one. Man the sled was all in pieces. Has to now rerun all my electrical for the led lights. SInce we ran them all through the old subframe. The mechanic looks like a mad scientest with this one

I agree. I told the tech, and Pat to double check it all. Then I want to test it on their track before I leave. Can't wait to get it right for this year. I think I will only do small tweaks to it next, and not go balls out with the power. Might just go out to buy a lake racer I can tincker with and have fun with. For a second one. Found a nice older apex for that. Men and their need for speed ;)!

Could a shop repair that hole? A quick weld job has to be way cheaper. Or keep the old one have it fixed and sell it here to someone in the classifieds to get some cash back.

My one buddy who does refrigeration seems to think it could be repaired. I am going to bring it back to my shop, and see. It can't hurt. Being so far away from my house with the sled, made me think. Do I want to take a chance on it failing way out on a trail, in the middle of a 4 day trip 7-8 hours away from the house? So I paid the extra for now. Can have a spare or sell the other later. Thanks for the help agin guys. Good to vent

SUBFRAME

Anything to look out for with the new subframe? The radiator is the obvios one. Thanks again guys

Removing the lower A-arms is much more difficult as the reinforcement plate cover the access from the bottom. You'll have to fish from either the side or go over the top. Another reason to put zerk/zerts in the joints. No big deal really, I'll take the added strength over the ease of access.
