Proline Kit + Fix Ram Air= 1 happy camper

MW I was thinking about putting the alum rivets back in it and getting back to the 11000 11100 rpm. I wish I would have ran it with the alum rivet and than put in the steel and run it again. At least I would know if I did the right thing.

Matt are you telling us for $350.00 us dollars that all you get is the grills that go in the stock air box cover??? Thats it,thats there ram air lit,and than you have there cold air kit for 30 bucks or so,that looks just a rough as this ram air kit,i would of thought they would have filters or some kind of snorkel hook up to funnel the air toward the carb mouths.. Were you as surprised as i am if this is all you get?

I was too surprised but realize someone has to pay for the R&D. I bet Fix will offer this same kit next year for half the price. Right now as it stands, should I get an 07 I will be making my own kit ;)!

yup, you get a stock yamaha air box lid with holes cut out of it and prefilter attached. It could very easily be duplicated.

Does anyone know the story with the cold air kit they advertise on their site? Is it able to work in conjunction with the ram air setup or not? The picture they show on the site seems to imply both are installed in that photo but the commentary says the cold air kit is for those who dont want the all out performance of the ram air system.

MattZx6, From talking to John from Proline, he indicated to me that his kit pulls the RPM from the get go to 10,500. From then, on say a 1/3rd of a mile to a 1 mile run, it will creep to 10,800 to 10,900 and that's where it should run. He did all of his testing on an Attack and he indicated that his sled will run 121mph on the gun on ice, with just clutching. The Attack is geared one tooth down from the RTX. I believe if you dropped the gearing you will at least be on the same page as him. I believe the RTX/GT is geared too tall. It sounds like you need to add a touch more of weight. I have not bought his kit yet, because I am still waiting to hear about people like you who has one and am waiting to hear what your report are like. Have you tried running against stocker say around 30 mph and punch it and see what types of gains this kit provides for mid range?

RTX & GT are geared that way so you don't spin it all away, if you drop a tooth you are just gonna blow it out the back unless you got serious traction. Attack can hook up so it can run the 23.

JUST INSTALLED, RAM-AIR, IT DOES WORK, R.P.M.'S ROSE AND SOUNDS GREAT, BUT DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT, TAKE AND MODIFY YOUR STOCK ONE AND THE COLD AIR KIT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PRE-FILTER OVER YOUR EXISITING 2 AIR CUT-OUT'S ON THE STOCK HOOD, BIG TIME WASTE OF MONEY :o| :o| :o|

I am glad you just wrote that, i was gonna pick one of these kits up, i guess I will just wait, or figure something out myself

Yup....matts RTX is working!!!.....matt,i would leave her revving at 11000 since its working well.....has anyone tried to wrap it to 80 or 90 degrees with this setup?..

also, what is the weight of a steel rivet vs the aluminum rivet matt has in tip?...

if i read correctly the steel brought revs down to 10,100?...that must be alot heavier then the alum rivet then.

Dan

I'm not sure what the alum is but steel is 2.44 grams. Don't think it would pull it down that much. I think each sled is a little differnet and needs to be tuned according to this. How broken in the motor is will also affect this. 10,100 seems like it's a little low.

The number off my receipt is YA90266-06002-00. I got the 2.44g with the hole in it. There is also one without a hole.
