Rode to my dealer the other day as to have them adjust my spring tension with their wrench, which does not knurl the edges from your preload adjuster nut. Great dealer, insisted on having a mechanic perform adjustments at no charge. He noticed that I shredded an idler on the way there and therefore swapped all six for '05s. As he was doing this we discussed the Floaters and he (mechanic) strongly suggested that I purchase the rigid plastic shock guards while my front end was still flawless (as new). Apparently, should you develop chips and scrathes on the smaller diameter portion of your shocks the abrasive texture will greatly reduce the life of the seals and eventually lead to seal/shock failure. I ordered the guards from the accessories book. Haven't a clue as to how they fasten to the shock. Is anyone using the guards? Has anyone had shock failure? It looks like they just clip on, which is a concern as I would like them to stay on my sled and not end up on someone elses. [/u]

I have them on my RTX. They're cheap insurance for stonechips and scratches. They do clip on but they also use a Stainless Steel worm gear clamp to hold them at the base of the shock. I wouldn't be too concearned about someone ripping them off.

I just ordered mine...good idea!! and not an ugly one!!

Bought a pair back in oct. just unscrew the clamp to where it comes apart and put them on.their instructions take to much time and energy. Although you may want to take the shock off and turn it upside down for reasons in a earlier post. They do keep shock body alot cleaner and no chips. Really like these shocks so far though!

I think that they are talking about the hard plastic ones. I however, thought these looked better and also protect the foxes from salt, road/trail debris, also they are cheap- and look really good.

Thanks for the quick replies. I like what Mr.plow has but, I have already commited to rigid plastic guards. I will likely reverse the mounting as well. Thanks again.
