Well I decided that there was no chance for one last ride so I pulled out the rear suspension to go through it. I ended up the year with 3864 miles and my slides are shot. Six of the idler bearings are growling but Yamaha won't replace them until they fail so I will be taking them apart and cleaning and regreasing or replacing if necessary. I have never had a suspension look so bad after one season as this one does! I haven't found any cracks yet but I need to give it a better lookover. Then I will remove everything and sandblast it, prime and repaint it. I am also going to move up the preload clip on the shock one notch to try to prevent excessive bottoming on the big bumps. Snow Tech e-mailed me back and said they are seeing 13 to 16 mpg U.S. gallons on their 4 cylinder 4 strokes not the 20 to 22 that Supertrax says it gets. I have had two dealers tell my that the FI system is adjustable so we will see if the mpg can be improved. Has anyone else seen anyother probelms out there to be looking for or heard of updates to the mpg issue?

Don't forget..Supertrax is Canadian so they are using Imperial gallons which is more gas than a US gal.

If you ride agressive 13-16 mpg U.S. is all you will get .
Keven Beilke of Snow Tech magazine e-mailed me stating that 13-16 mpg u.s. gallons is all they are seeing as well. Mark Lester of Supertrax e-mailed me back and stated that the 20-22 mpg they are getting is in u.s. gallons also. If yamaha did something to their sled to get that mileage then they all should be able to get that mileage. My dealer says the F.I. system is adjustable/programmable. We will see if yamaha comes out with reprogramming for them. Kevin from Snow Tech says the Boondockers EFI box may work for the Apex but at what cost to improve the mileage? He says if they find a mod that works he will share it with me. We'll see.
