Was out in Togwotee last week with a guy who showed up with a new Push turbo running 8-9 psi of boost in a new 2010 Nytro. Owner wanted to compare my NW turbo pushing 8-10 psi to his and was very disappointed with his choice. My sled a far from stock 2008 nytro MTX (minus 80-90lbs) and is geared and clutched properly. It can lift the skis off the ground for 50 ft and climb like crazy. His was weak and anaemic. I am running the 162x2.5" new CE and he was running a 153" power claw so not exactly fair. His was also not geared or clutched to it's potential only hitting 8200 RPMs in stock dress. When pinned the sled made all the right sounds, but didn't hook up or give you the feeling that the sled was going to rip out of your hands like mine does. It also couldn't climb for crap, but that was not the motor/turbo's fault more in the rear suspension setup.
The boost control is thru the waste gate and even a slight drop of the throttle bled all the boost out and gave it a laggy response. It does gain boost fast, but can't hold the boost unless you keep it pinned. Not good for boondocking when you are on and off the throttle instantly. I didn't like it all. I would never trade my midmount NW turbo for that system. I thought the cheezy intake off the back was waiting for a tree branch to poke thru the prefilter material and suck something bad inside. Why not a simple K&N filter like most systems? There is no fuel control or ability to tune. That is good and bad depending on the user.
My impression was his sled was about the same as a stock 800 (slightly more after it was under full boost for several seconds) and mine felt like a it had another 100HP over his. I can't believe that kit was making a true 180HP. Can removing 90lbs and making another 30-40HP make that much of a difference? I don't believe so, but that's my opinion.
I believe despite being advertised as a plug and play system with full waranty I would not invest in this kit. Maybe it works better in a sled with proper clutching/gearing, but as installed it was as the owner stated "...not the experience I thought I was buying." He expected his sled to be more on par with mine.
Just a few thoughts.
