I'm in the process of installing my used QC-1 (no instructions) Do you reuse the rear heat shield? Seems I'll have to do some trimming if that is the case. Thanks

The rear heat shield over the can?? If so, yes, and dammit for the life of me I cant remember where you have to trim! Im sure that if you call Arne at Whiteknuckle, he would be happy to help you out, hes a pretty good guy!

Maddog, you have to modify that rear heat shield. I just installed a QC-1 as well and per the instructions, you have to do a little trimming on the one side. I still have the instructions but the template you cut out to trim the heat shield has been cut from the instructions and I don't know where it went; other than that, they are complete. I could fax you a copy but I'm sure Arnie could hook you up. The reason you have to trim the heat shield is if you look at the stock exhaust, you'll notice that one side of the dual exhaust sits further back (in other words, one of the pipes exiting out the rear is a little longer). It's due the internal baffels of the can where one side of the dual exhaust exits out the stock can further back on the one side. With the QC-1, both tail pipe ends are equal length so that is why when you attempt to sit the rear heat shield on, it will not sit flush on the one side. The piece you cut out on the one side allows the shield to sit flush.

If it is the same as the GP-1, you have to trim the right side.

Thanks for the backup Buckeye, I forgot to mention that it was the right side for the QC-1 as well. ;)!

qc-1 install instructions

My phone works fine last I checked so don't be afraid to call if you need help or some instructions. I can mail them, fax them, or email them. I have been trying for the last few months to get some time to put them on our website also but that hasn't worked out just yet.
It's a simple pattern needed for the trim work, and I think you could figure it out without the pattern if you so wanted to. Either way I'm almost always a few rings of the phone away!

All set, thanks guy's. I new I could cut it no problem, just wasn't sure if you were to reuse it or not.

I've also installed the QC-1, and have yet to have the sled out on the trails (still waiting for more snow), but around the yard it sounds awesome! With regards to the installation, I find that the the exhaust tips point upwards a bit more than the stock ones, and are not quite centred with the end caps. I believe that there was previous info somewhere, that indicated you could put a piece of pipe in these exhaust tips in order to bend them to where they would line-up better. Has anyone had to do this? And if so, is there a need to apply heat or anything?
