I've heard different people say the 05 RX-1 has a problem with one of the chain case bearings at around 5000 miles and mine has 5000 miles on it. Is this true and what bearing is it and how do I change it?

1st time I here them having problems, my buddy's '05 RX1-ER has 13.000kms/8000miles and had to change his DRIVESHAFT that snapped and had to take the hole chaincase apert and was in excellent condition, we changed the bottom drive bearing cuz of us having all apart and also changed oil seals...are you sure its not the DRIVESHAFT they tend to go around 10.000kms/6000miles they SNAP right next to chaincase without any warning!

1 thing we do to prolong the life of your chaincase is CHANGE your oil frequently, we change ours every 1600kms/1000miles or so, it only takes 10min and cost you $2 or 3 bucks and it'll last a lot longer, chain, bearings, tightner etc...

I can tell you that the guys who told me were pretty specific about changing the bearing as when it does fail it will take out the inner chain case housing. I just need to know if they were assuming the 05's have problems like the 03's did or if it's fact.

Like I mentioned, never heard any issue's w/'05

Some other memebers will chime in...keep a close eye on your driveshaft and keep a good quality oil in your chaincase and keep your tensioner to spec and you'll be ok.

I myself put on 12.000kms on my RX1 '05 without bearing issue's...except for SPEEDO bearing that you have to service on a regular base.

If you keep the chain-case lube clean and full, you will go a lot farther than 5,000 miles on its bearings. Also, I have not heard of a trend regarding drive-shaft failures. Actually, I can't recall reading about any except when the sled has been turboed, etc. But, I may have missed one or two someplace. Then again, one or two does not make a trend.
