Hi.

I got a good deal on a 2008 Nytro RTX, and im wondering about buying it.

Does the tracksusa extension kit fit good?
Does anything need to be done to fit a 144" inch track with 2" lugs?

TracksUSA have a extension-package with 144" rail/tunnell extension and a challenger 144" inch track that im looking at.

Bolt on? Or is there any problems with this setup?

Opinions?

Sounds good. What kind if non slip drivers are you running? What size?

Someone said i had to go to smaller non slips cause of the lug height im planning to run?

What is the drive shaft size on the RTX? What non slip drivers should i run?

Will these work?

# Pitch: 3.0 in.
# Tooth size: 8
# Hex Drive Shaft Size: 1 1/4 in. hex

Muffin Works has an option for you

If you would like a second option and care to save some of your cash, take a look at our rail extensions. We offer both 136 and 144 extensions in both straight and 6 degree tip ups. They are very well made and precision machined for a perfect fit. We also have cut outs in ours to drop some weight. We provide all stainless steel hardware and our reputation on TY is second to none. Our 136 with 6 degree tip up is only $155. Currently we do not have extensions for the fx nytro but are working on one to compete with Hartman. We (my brother and I) are a very small company and do the work after our day job (I own a tool and die shop and my brother is an electrical engineer) which allows us to keep costs to a minimum.
Tracks usa (www.tracksusa.com) has Hartman tunnel extensions for $105. This comes to a total of $260 versus the $325 package fro OFT. If you have any questions please contact us at sales@muffinworksltd.com

The pitch on every 144" track that I have seen is 2.52", not 3.0". Driver shaft size for the Nytro is 1-1/16". A 1.75" lug track will fit with 9 tooth drivers, but a 2" lug height should use an 8 tooth driver.

The tunnel extensions that Tracks USA is selling are not Hartman extensions. Hartman's is a one piece unit as shown in the picture above.

Our 136" tipped up x-stensions are $160 and the complete kit with the Hartman tunnel extension is $325 with all stainless steel hardware and features the external track adjusters and new axle spacers. We have options for 7" and 8" wheels, as well as 2, 3 and 4 wheel set ups including our 3 wheel inside-the-rails set up. Since you were inquiring about the 11.5" tipped up extensions to convert to a 144" set up, the price on that is $175 for the rail extensions and $350 for the complete kit with the Hartman tunnel extension.

Going to bump this for a little more info..

Im going with a 144x 2" and would like to know what you all recommend for 8 tooth drivers? Or any other tips for that matter.

I ran a 2" with the 9 tooth extrovert drivers on my RTX. The track was knotched for the heat exchanger protectors/tunnel protectors. But if you took the protectors out, a standard 2" track would fit.

It is a little close tho, and 8 tooth drivers would probably be a good idea, since it would be like dropping 2 gears in the chaincase, which would help with that much bigger track.

Avid drivers are the best out there, a little more pricey than Wahls but they are tougher and last longer. $265 shipped last time I ordered a set.

What sled is this going on? 9 tooth extroverts will fit on a RTX with no modifications. But 9 tooth extros will not fit on a XTX unless you trim the rail tips I think. I'm not sure if 8 tooth extros will fit a XTX without modification of the rails...I would think they would clear. Maybe someone else will know...?

I recommend Avids or Wahls - either are great. Also, I highly recommend the extro style with a paddle track.

I'm not 100% sure about extro to rail tip spacing on the trail and x-over sleds, but it is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to watch in a driver change.

We fixed 3 sleds last year that got new driver and/or driver-rail changes that caused very extensive damage to the skids, rails, tracks, extros, etc. because the installers never checked it. One of these sleds grenaded with less than 50' on it - not miles, 50 FEET!

Whatever you do, make sure there is at least 1.25-1.5" of clearance between the rail tips and driver tips at static ride height!
