Question about track noise

Has anyone tried to tighten the transfer rods or pull up the limiter strap to help reduce the noise ? At speeds around 40 MPH I would swear you can hear each clip hitting the hyfax. At 60 MPH it almost sounds like a huge fan blade. Mine is so loud that if I had one of my employees ride it , I would have to provide hearing protection. The noise produced is far above allowable OSHA decibel limits. And that is with a closed helmet and head sock on. If this sled met the industry noise levels it was done thru some sort of trickery or a different track. When one goes by all you hear is track. Sounds like they don't have a motor till they are well past.

I have a RS/Venture and I had belt squeal at idle when I first bought it. It went away after about 500miles.

I blew a belt at 3000 miles and I put a new belt on, the squeal came back so I was told to take the secondary clutch off and remove the washers located behind the three screws on the engine side of the secondary.

I did this and the squeal has gone away for the last 700 miles. I believe this let the secondary open up more at idle???

My question is, was this the proper fix or not? I don't feel any difference in the perfomance of the sled. Will this hurt anything in the long run??

Sounds like the proper fix. The secondary was too tight as set up, not allowing full disengagement. I've heard of folks leaving it like this saying the noise will go away after a while and stay tight for more miles, but it can't be good for the belt. There are specs in your owner's manual for belt adjustment, measured at how far above or below the top of the belt measures according to the clutch sheave.
