This question is for you guys that don't fog your engine and instead start them every month.and let them warm up for awhile .Question on hesitation in hot weather. I started my vector tonight for the monthly warm up . I noticed alot of hesitation if you give it alot of gas at once, and fine if you give it to it slow. Is this just because of the warm weather? Being its jetted for cold?Does anyone else have this happen? :o|

I don't have a vector but my two RX1's are just as smooth in the summer as they are when the snow fly's start them about once every 6 weeks or so store with premium gas I installed shut offs and run em dry as they can get each time 3 years no issues knock on wood ;)!

Michael,
even though is is 45-80 degrees right now the sled could still stumble for up to about 2 minutes. You got stable or seafoam in the tank, correct?

You could definitely experience stumbling or hesitations in warm weather. In warm weather, air density is LOWER, therefore your carbs will be set too RICH. On top of that, you have hot coolant heating up the warm gas in the carbs, which could cause some fuel expansion, forcing the fuel mixture to be even MORE rich.

And one other thing... these monthly startups can cause plug fouling, which will clear up temporarily when you get the engine spinning faster. Excessively rich mixture caused by warm weather and generous use of the choke cause fouling. The effect of a fouled plug could be seen as a hesitation.

Yes I Have fuel stabilizer in it. I got up the morning early when it was cooler and seems to run 90% better, but still not as responsive as it should be. I am hoping it the temp outside. Being June I guess I should have other things to worry about,But I bought the sled at the end of April and never had a chance to ride it. Its got 275 miles on it. I was going to fog it,But I notices it was low on coolant, That's why I chose to do the start up mouthy so I could keep an eye on that. It was low but has not taken anymore sense then. My dealer seems to think it just had a small air bubble in there. I am the kind of guy that worries about every little thing, I would feel better if I had a chance to ride it some.I guess I got such a great deal I feel there most be something wrong with it.My wife thinks I lost my mind, every time I an in the garage I have a look at it.I plan on polishing the tunnel over the summer and studding it.Going in to dealer in August to have the clutch noise fixed .Well I feel like a 12 year old boy with a new bike, The first snow I will be there.I want to thank the guys on the site for helping out it sure helps, When I first got had my rx-1 I didn't know nothing about it. I have learned allot here. Thanks Mike

More than likely just the fuel screws being a little rich and you could have a slightly fouled plug that cleans up and fires at a higher rpm. These 4 strokes can run in a very wide range of conditions. On the grass testing with the Vector with stock jetting in 75* air it showed an air/fuel ratio of 12.0:1 where 12.9:1 is optimum. Also as another reference the RX-1 and the FZ-1 bike (same motors and carbs) are jetted with only 1 size difference between the two (FZ-1 runs 132.5 main jet, RX-1 runs 135 main jet). Do you change the jets in your carb on your car from summer to winter?
