Starting summer maintainance and found about 10 track clips missing. This is a 1inch camoplast challenger track with a clip every 3rd rib. track has a 679-979 number. I never replaced clips before and wondered if there is a post on this site with info. 06 GT My 06 RTX with the Hacksaw has no clips missing. Any advise would be appreciated. Skid is out, but track is still in as I did not remove the front axle.

To do the job properly you nyyd a special tool to properly crimp the clips on with out hurting the track.
there are a couple different types they range between $38-$70
and clips are &1-$2.20 each. Iwould also look at the clips that arent missing as they usually also be worn qiute thin.

Yes you will need a track clip tool. The one from sno-stuff works fine, comes in a yellow case. It has dies for both the narrow (Ripsaw) and wide clips. You can also use this one with the skid still in and everything. I changed my clips without doing a thing to the sled. To remove any worn or old ones just get a large (LARGE) flat head screwdriver, wedge it under the clip were the hyfax run and twist. It should pop right off, some take a little more but you'll see it working. I've used both Camo and Kimpex clips, didn't really notice a huge difference, besides the price difference you can get about two or three kimpex to one Camo anyway. Note to self, buy extra. It seems no one stock these things, even though practically every sled comes with a camoplast rip, or hack no one has any clips. So in the future if you find you need them you better have a few days to wait.

track clip info

Thanks for the advise guys. I've been riding for years with many different brands and never had to change track clips, so this will be a first. About 1300 miles on the sled, mostly northern Wi riding.

Do you have the Kimplex part #.

Spanky's has the tools and clips. I bought the vise style, and it works well, but is time consuming. The cheaper about ($35) long handle type would be faster, but I'd like to hear feedback from those that use them.

get ahold of rich at rich powesports. He's a site sponsor. He has clips. PM me and I'll lend you my tool for shipping cost. Just a few bucks. Jay
