:dunno: Hi,
I have read that there are some issues with the RTX suspension. Some believe that the standard suspension on the Apex ER is as good if not better. Could you give me your experiance? I'm getting ready to purchase one of the Apex models. Thanks, Ray

The 2006 Apex RTX had the mono-shock suspension, which is fantastic on groomed trails and handles the light chop extremely well, but it is not a big-bump suspension. Some people were bending the tunnel and/or breaking the rails. In 2007, Yamaha changed the rear suspension on the RTX to the Pro-Active CK, which is much more suited than the mono-shock.

I have the 07 rtx and the ride is terrible. its like riding a mechanical bull all day long. I have since had my shocks revalved in the rear and now it is a world of difference better. It is also hard on suspension parts and bogey wheels. You can't beat the fox floats in the front! Hope that helps.

It takes some revalve work and a spring change on the center shock to get things working better. You also can find the limits in some of the suspension parts by doing this [swingarm to coupling link arm] on mine. But a little fab work in this area makes it better than new and well worth it.
I feel mine finally rides like it should! Rich.

I think the 07 rtx was yamahas worst effort at trying to build a ditch banger, they are better off with the nytro, but even in 08 they did not impress the masses that bought the nytro for all out bump banging, now back to the two rtx models, get the 06 rtx or an 07 apex gt,revalve all three shocks and you will love them,we still have the 06 rtx and even though we have done nothing special to the float fronts, the rear has been revalved and it just plain works,i tried everything to get my 07 rtx to work like advertised,so i sold it,now i am on the 07 apex gt what an awsome apex, they hit a home run with that model, now for carvers magic this year on all three shocks and i will keep my huge smile all this year too.

I love the way my RTX rides and handles. I did put 136" extentions on it before i even road it Along with aftermarket skis. So I might not be the best to ask.

The extra length soften up the much talked about stiff ride and without any re-valving it is perfect.

All I would say to anyone not happy with the RTX is make sure the skid is in top working order and send your shocks to a shop that does it for a living along with a good discription of how and what conditions ya ride in and you will be happy. I happen to have done my own by comparing valve spec's in ski doo sleds [X and sno-pro's] and working with that and it is night and day from stock! The ride is an easy fix, get the stuff in the right hands but sometimes it's hard to tell guys they need to spend a little money on thier sled that they just spent 10k + on . Yamaha made a great sled but they did not dial it in for everyone. Rich.

Never was happy with the suspension. The stock shocks bottomed easily. I had them re-valved and then is was rock hard. I broke the rear suspension three times. It would develope a lot of stress cracks and then break. I don't ever jump the sled. The power and handling were good but the GT is a better choice.
