Questions About Gutting My Exhaust

N.H. has a 45 MPH speed limit?
Wow...thats lame!
I know Michigan is 55 but I have never seen it enforced except in a few places that run behind houses (and there it should be enforced!)

gut it all out. tune it more air in + more air out = more power.
the only restrictons are NO RESTRICTIONS! ;)!

i posted this earlier and i had great result. this is nothing new in combustion engines. if you are getting air in quicker and out quicker you have to see some type of gain. some people have problems with any kind a mod intake/exhaust/clutching. i have done 2 of these without any loss of speed or sounding like crap. something else is causing these problems. eg older belt, carbs not in sync. its not like your adjusting the valves or anything. your just opening up the exhaust a little. junkie

so if you partly gut the muffler..does anyone suggest jetting up/down or another mod to compensate for the better flow? i just got another stock set up and want to gut mine but keep a stock set up in case i don't like it. suggestions anyone?

I did the gutting on my sled. Didn't notice any hp gains or top end. I liked the sound, but I switched it back to stock, it was just too damn loud. Didn't notice any difference when I switched back.

i know mine isnt completely gutted.from what i was told they just cut out a crossover pipe. i dont think mine is any stronger than a stocker, but sounds sweet

the O4 RX1 I just picked up has a 'gutted' exhaust. I don't know how much as i didn't do the work, but the jets were also increased from the 135 stock to 137.5. Not a lot of difference but that will allow for the smoother flow of air.
I have worked on race cars and the key to HP is flow of air. More in more out and adjust the fuel accordingly.

Simple concept from 4cyl to 8cyl.

Best thing is to dyno before and after.

I like the sound mine makes a nice deep throat but not very loud. My 96vmax600 is louder at idle and on the gas.

i wouldnt let some of you even tune in my radio, you have no clue. and no i dont have a dyno i have a gps.
yes jet up.

I have an mpi I will sell you and its coated....250 or best offer.....at that price if you don't like it you can resell it and find a stocker..

Rock on!

I really want to hear a sound clip of a completely gutted exhaust. I read somewhere it gives you a little bit better acceleration, or atleast it seems like it but I do not want some extremely loud and s**tty sound. Also my buddy just got a SS can for his '02 MXZ Z 800 and I want to be heard a little tiny bit while riding with him but there's no way I'd want to drown him out because that would be just WAYYYYY too much.

Yes, the two top pipes in the center. I cut as much out as I could. I used a reciprocating saw, and a grinder to smooth the rough edges.
