I wanted my seat to be slightly higher, so I performed a minor face lift....

First I removed the staples back to the storage area. I found a pair of fairly pointy diag cutters did the best job.

I pulled the cover back out of the way.

The foam then easily lifted up and away from the plastic pan.
I took some 1" styrofoam and cut it to fit the contour of the seat pan. Just on the top, not the sides...

I put the foam back into position, and pulled the cover down and around the pan, and re-stapled. Cover had plenty of excess fabric and stretch.

Doesn't look too bloated and sits where I want it. Took me less than one cocktail.

I found some 12" x 12" x 1" pieces back in our shipping department. If you're interested send me a pm with your address and I'll mail you a couple. I think I only used 2, broken in to pieces to fit. It's very dense, more so than beer cooler foam.

That's a lot of work, i just put on a diaper! Great job;)!

I'm thinking a 2" riser would be swell.
Nice work on the seat. If anything, if it keeps a guy from sinking into the stock seat, that's like adding 2" right there. I would bet this mod would be enough for many, and far cheaper than the WRP mod. You are not out anything for trying.

What size staples did you use, or did you just match it up to what you pulled out I suppose?

I installed the Powermadd 2.5" pivot on my last two Apex and last Phazer. It's inexpensive and can be done without cable extensions. All it took was a re-route of the throttle cable under the bar, which can be detached at the fun-flipper, routed and re-attached in minutes. I put the pivot riser on top of the stock riser allowing me to keep my chrome ring around the base and stock clamp pad on top.

Good luck!

I basically did the same thing adding 1.5" of polyethylene (6lb). Cover went back on pretty nice with the help of a heat gun. I used 1/4" heavy duty staples. A lot of them

I agree one inch of the Styrofoam is similar to adding two inches of foam. After ridding 535 miles on the seat, it was worth it.
I used some takie spray on the bottom of the pan edge only. I stretched the cover over tge edge to the outline of painters tape to mark exactly where the old cover was located. I used the same size staples. I still had the center of gravity feel on the sled.
