I'm glad this one's not all in caps. check your clutches make sure they are clean, proper deflection, and fully shifting. This along with the conditions you're running on seem to make a great difference in top end speed with this sled. What were the conditions???

Wow i would have to say that neither sled was fast, unless the lake was loose snow about 6" deep, your apex should run 110-112 on hard snow, both ours are, mine was the attak and we have an rtx, heck we have a 03 prox running 106 gps down same lake when rtx ran 111 gps last weekend,i have seen 05 mach z run 118-125 on i mile hard pack, something must not be right with your apex, hope you can find the problem.machj said:radared a06machz today on my apexgt themach did 110mph and apex did 102mph we ran agood mile down the lake

Check out some old shootout times and speeds for old machz's.They were fast.I had a 95 780 and it was fast.It had that low shitty c7 suspension and a 3/4 inch track with around 150hp.I have no doubt that my Apexgt with its 1.25 track will out accelerate it in most trail conditions with a muchhhhhh better ride and handleing. Now if you could lower the apex and put a short 3/4 inch track on it the things would be different.

If you are refering to my comments about your speeds being so low,i was very surprised either sled was this slow, and not ment to be a smart #*$&@,if you read my posts i am alway trying to help out others,so give us some more info on the conditions that has netted you your best speed so far, that is why i asked if you were in 6" or more loose snow. First off lift the back of sled and rotate the track, and have it tensioned the way you would ride it,with belt still on,if you cant even turn it than something is to tight, now it is going to turn preety hard, but you should be able to totate it,than remove drive belt and repeat, now all you have is the drive system, just rotate the secondary and listen for any squeeks or any thing very dry sounding, you may have a bearing that is going or already gone bad, some fail quickly, they shouldent but poop happens. Next look at everything you can in the chassie, all your wheels to be sure they turn free and spin, now its time to loosen the track to do this, check to see that no bent track clips have stabbed the sliders somwhere and are dragging you down, look to see if in the tunnel everything look good. Next take both clutchs off,and take them apart to inspect them,if everything is ok,reinstall them back to there stock starting point, measure center distance check offset, belt deflection, hopefully by now you will have already checked to see that your primary was shifting as far as possible, and what rpms motor turns up at full shift, hopefully 10,600 - 10,800 for good top end, does motor stumble or run clean, get good milage or bad, where are your limiter straps, pull them up a couple holes,to limit drag in hot area at rail bend, how many studs and what kind and how are they placed, although this is getting picky, but just so you feel a little better your is not the only one i have heard of running off its pace,i was hoping for this sled to beat my old 03 rx1 quite easy, well so far it has not done this, but it is getting very close, and i feel it has the potential,so check stuff over and post back with a little more info. Your welcome, hope it can help,as i have had alot of help from alot of very good folks on here, thats why i joined in 02 when i first heard there was a forum just for yammi junkies, thanks to MR. Sled and all the great moderators on here,i now feel preety confident around my yamaha, sense for most of my 35 years i have been on polaris and a few cats, but i must say these new yammi, and when i say new i mean sense the 4-stroke rx1 came out i really feel good every time i throw a leg over it,even when i dont think its the fastest or best handling ride out there,i know it will get me home, and get me some good miles cheaper than any other sled i have ever had. So thanks goes out to all that help each other, yourself included... Sweet just glad its still winter.. lolMyOutdoors said:Hmmm? I'm afraid to answer. Thanks snowbeast for a respectful reply.
