How are the hand warmers on the rage? The Apex guys say theirs are cold. We have no snow so no chance to test yet.

I usually ride with them only a quarter of the way on. Crank em all the way, and you'll burn your hands.

Same here, my problem is I don't realize how hot mine are getting or turn them up during some open quicker riding and forget to turn them down and burn my hands.

The heat output on my Rage grips is not good. I installed hand guards and still rode with cold hands on days below 10 degrees. 2 friends also ride Rages and have similar opinions. So-so at best.
Yamaha has been famous for their superior heat output on the grips - I was looking forward to it. I was not impressed with the Rage and am now worried about the Apex.

Did you have a heated shield wired to the grip circuit ?

I wired my heated shield jack directly to the battery.
I am holding any comment on the Apex grips until I can ride it and see for myself. I have ridden Cats for the last 15 years and am used to mediocre heated grips - I had hoped for better.

I always start with mine on the hottest position and they start out slow to get warm then once you are on a steady throttle down a trail for awhile they do get HOT then once warm I turn to about half and there fine. I dont know if it helped but I did spray expanding foam in by bars as some guys say it helps I noticed maybe >alittle< difference imo.

Spray foam in the bars really helps.

I'm going to give that a try.

Not impressed with mine either... seems like once you get down to 10-0 degrees... you need to start thinking about putting the gauntlets on... pretty much a necessity at -15 going home at night. I'm dissappointed considering that with my V-Maxes I never had a problem with -20 to -30 temps... grips were the best in the business... now????? :ORC

Man, I don't know what you guys have been dealing with for grips, but I had 3 Cats before my RX-1 and all 3 of the Cats would melt my gloves and so will my RX-1. Literally melt the gloves if I let them.

So here is my problem I rode around the yard for about 3 or 4 minutes (One mile) on the speedo with the new Attak with no gloves on at 28 degrees outside with the grip heaters on high and they never got warmer than just starting to notice them, 2nd I got on the wifes new 2006 Rage and tried the same thing and they got a little warmer but no were near hot and 3rd I got on My 2002 Arctic cat Mountaincat 800 and just for the guys out there that think it's a windshield issue I took off the windshield on the cat and after about a minute of them being on high I had to stop and turn the grip heaters off and let the bars cool so I could get back to the garage with no gloves on (bare hands )
So the small windshield issue is not even a factor and the problem is in the heaters or power issue
Here's a question that the electrician guys could answer.... What if you tried hooking up a 12 volt power supply directly to the grip without any regulators of any other power to see if the grips are the issue or in the electronics of the sled ???
